Papers and Plans

Nov 20, 2006 06:45

I sit here wondering why in the world I am still awake at 5:25 when I've already finished my papers.  The answer: if I go to sleep now, I KNOW that I won't wake up again in time to turn in the paper and go to class.  I've learned this one from hard experience that I am not eager to repeat ever again.

I'm also having a hard time typing due to the lack of sleep thing, so please graciously ignore any typos you may find.  Thanks!

I actually like the Spanish paper I just spent all night writing.  This may not seem like a big thing, but I am very rarely happy with a Spanish paper that I write.  I think it's the fact that I still have the tendency to put it off until the last minute like I do with all other papers.  The problem with that philosophy is that it takes about twice as long to write a paper in Spanish as it does in English.  Maybe a little less now that I'm getting more used to it.  And the sad thing is, I had every intention of having this paper almost done by Saturday night.  So goes my life.

Speaking of my life, guess what I did today.  I started filling out a preliminary application for the Peace Corps.  I still don't know if it's definitely what I'll do in the long run, but I figured it couldn't hurt to go ahead and start the process.  My parents both seem ok with it so far, and the few ZTA family members I've told so far haven't tried to strangle me OR lock me in a closet forever.  Emily did make the rather snarky comment: "What, are we the Peace Corps family now?"  Apparently so, Little.

I don't know if Tara even HAS a livejournal, but don't worry, chica!  I promise I won't go anywhere until AFTER your wedding.  I won't leave you short one bridesmaid.  Besides, I can't leave your wedding in the hands of Carlon AND Stacy...*shudder*.  :-)

Today will be an interesting day.  I have to turn in my Spanish paper at 10AM, go to class and turn in my other paper at 12:30, get out of class at 2PM, be at work by 3PM, get off somewhere between 8 and 9PM, do homework for my 8AM class, and make up for tonight's missed sleep at some point.  Yeah, probably won't happen.

I seriously doubt my Khazakstani-ish friend (I say "ish" because she's a Peace Corps volunteer) reads my LJ, but just in case she does, she should NOT read the next sentence.  I'm sending a holiday care package or two to Mary in Khazakstan next week, and if anyone would like to include something (and help pay for the postage!), please let me know ASAP!  Nothing heavy, and I might split it into more than one package if enough people want to pitch in.

Ok, I've drained the last of my Dr.Pepper can, so I think I'll go nap on the couch in my jeans with the lights on.  If I set also set my cell phone alarm, I might have slightly better than a snowball's chance in hell of getting up in time to turn in my papers.

I hope you all have a fabulous week, and a very happy Thanksgiving!

Oh, p.s. - I'm working as a hostess at Outback on Lakeshore right now, so come by and see me sometime!  I won't be your server or anything, but I can try my best to put you with the good servers and not the crappy guy who takes ten minutes just to bring you bread.  :-)  Love!
