AICon Day 2
The second and last day of my local anime convention. I didn't get as much business today as I did yesterday, and I credit this to there being less events in the theatre that I was right next to. And that today was the cosplay competition, and people were melting in their cosplays where they were, they didn't want to cross the road to get to the other part of the Con.
What else?
Uh, didn't win the AMV comp, didn't expect to, all things considered. It was a first go and done in the freebie movie maker on my computer. While it can be used to excellent effect, a lot of the effects weren't working on mine, so I didn't have that, and I couldn't get animated clips either, so it was all stills of the anime.
I didn't win the fanfiction competition either, which I'm a good deal more disappointed about, but I didn't get to see any of the other fanfics that I was competing against, so I don't even know if I should be MASSIVELY cheesed off, or if it was a case of "yes, yes they really are a better writer than me, they deserve this". Couldn't tell you. Still mildly frustrated. My fic was in theme, within the word limit, well written, and one of the most popular fics on my ff.net profile. It was also a crossover between Naruto and Harry Potter, which may have been why it didn't win, but if they didn't want crossovers then they really should have had more defined categories like they did last year.
I made money at my traders table, I got all the stuff packed up and back home again after the last event in my area was over, managed to get to see some of the con for myself and genearlly had a good time. Cons are fun. I like cons. I haven't made a count of my total takings from the con, but I am very sure that I did very well. Yesterday when I got home, I took all the fifties out of the cashbox, and I started the day with NO fifties. There is $550, JUST in fifties - JUST from yesterday!! And there was more than that in the box then, and there's even MORE in the box now, I just haven't gotten to counting it yet.
Yes, I think we can all agree that paying that $70 for the table was a good investment, I definitely made that money back. ^^
Also, today I bought the complete collection of the xxxHolic dvds. I'd have liked to have found the second volume of the manga, since I have volumes one and three, but I can find that some other time, no problems.
