we didn't crash the party the world crashed on me instead.

Driving south with Erika. We were on the freeway.

snap.

Oh, what? My gas pedal does nothing. Cool.
Slow pulling over of car. Wondering what to do.
Suppressed tears, "things could be worse. I could be
on fire right now" laughter, "but I'm not, and for that"
drag of cigarette, "I am thankful." We played hangman and
waited for the tow truck to come, then
riding in a huge gas guzzler, shaking and groaning, I watched
my little subaru bouncing gaily behind. This adventure
cost me fifty dollars.

An estimated $500** to fix whatever it was that made
that snap sound. Timer belt. Oh. Ok.
Wait, that money is supposed to buy me
a new home. I don't have that money.
Hey Mom, could you? Uh. Yeah. Thanks.

I'll pay you back someday. Maybe. Ugh.

Seriously you guys, I'm like, building so
much character right now!

**EDIT! The quote changed. It will cost closer to $650.
