Dear Police

You are supposed to protect the people. That is, all the people. Even the ones you don't like or you think you can portray in a way that will lose them public sympathy. So let's have a recap, shall we? You don't shoot people carrying chair legs. You don't shoot Brazillian electricians. You don't beat the shit out of people having a demonstration to sack parliament. And, most recently, you don't attack people walking home from work so that they subsequently die from their injuries.

Put the weapons down, chill out, drink less coffee, do some yoga, and stop fucking attacking people, mmkay? Failing that, having attacked someone, the correct response is to say "our bad, we're really sorry, and here's how we'll stop it from ever happening again." You don't, you know, lie about his clothing and activity and then try to claim he was an illegal immigrant anyway, and you don't say you had nothing to do with it but the nasty protestors wouldn't let you help.

No love,

Lorna, who is sometimes on demonstrations and freaky-looking to boot, and would quite like to keep her skull intact. And increasingly convinced that weaponry, like power, should only be given to people who really don't want it.

why don't you do something?, multiculture, oh look at the state of that, linkage, power and privilege
