GLORIOUS NIPPON
I is here and HOLY SHIT NOSTALGIA. I haven't heard those happy little train station jingles since the X-Japan concert in '08. (Every train station has its own jingle it plays when the train is about to depart instead of the grating "Doors closing, please stand clear.)
I'll have some pics up soon but yesterday I caught up with a friend who's staying over here and we managed to do both Harajuku and Shinjuku in one day. The latter was full of host boys! They had the most lovely hair and faces, but I must be getting old because they were all too young for me.
It's positively freezing so hot cans of tea from vending machines have been on the menu. I also had an epic riceball that was tomoato sauce rice wrapped in egg. My friend and I hit up an Izakaya in Shinjuku and did the "all you can drink" thing. The bastards served the booze in big glasses that were practically steins so I only got down 5 and a half drinks before our time was up. That was my limit anyway, seeing as I had been mixing sake and umeshu. Vomiting and passing out in a foreign city isn't something I'd like to repeat. (AVCon 2006 afterparty, anyone?)
So today I'm wandering over to Shibuya and then hopefully onto Akihabara for PantyQuest2011. Wish me luck.
