Here in Britain, for the last few years our system of welfare benefits has been in the news.
'Reforms' at the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) have been good for crips, or at least not very bad, we hear. But some say things are getting worse.
Today we read of a
teenage quadruple amputee told to prove he is disabled to keep benefits.
DWP has now said, 'In this instance, a paper-based assessment has been completed and there is no need for a face-to-face assessment.'
School student Edward Bright has received 'interim benefits payments' but as his dad points out, 'He isn’t going to suddenly grow new arms and legs.'
I see wasted resources on this ding-dong. Not very helpful to young Edward as he studies for his exams.
