Disability doesn't 'happen for a reason'

Do you like this blog post? I do.

Too many people tell us crips that our disabilities lead to positive change. That we should be glad. No thanks! We can make positive changes if we choose to do that, but our suffering is suffering. I recently pointed out to a well-meaning friend that my crippage isn't about motivating me or inspiring others. It's nasty.

Many of us live well with disability. We don't live well because of it.
