New benefit rules in the UK

I don't know how many of you will have heard about the 'bedroom tax' the government is bringing in. Basically, if you're in social housing (council house, housing association property), you receive housing benefit, and you have more bedrooms than you actually need, then you will be penalised by not having all your rent paid. The majority of single people live in 2 bedroom homes - because there aren't enough 1 bedroom places available.

They're also revising how much council tax people on benefits will have to pay. Regardless of income/status, everyone will have to pay at least £3.50 a week of their council tax. I found out about that one today.

I got some letters today. Between those two new rules, I'll be £15 a week worse off.
