I've never learned to read Braille and I don't recall having seen anybody reading or writing it, but from that blog post I've learned that Braille is useful to many people. the day i had the laser surgery (it was the second treatment) was just not good all over. we had stopped to get something to drink, and my gut feeling is that someone with latex gloves on handled SOMETHING that went in my drink. (diet cherry coke with cherries in it)

and i'm allergic to latex. so i was stressed over that, and the benadryl was taking forever to kick in. the actual proceedure is uncomfortable if the numbing agent works. uncomfortable i can normally handle...but i was already stressing out, the numbing agent wasnt working as well as it could have, and the bright lights are just ICK.

plus it was cold that day, and achy muscles and joints, and having to sit in a weird position was not good either.

my neuropathy is weird. my toes are numb, but it HURTS if my toenails get the least bit long. bottoms of my feet are ok, but the tops are WAY oversensitive. and i have nerve damage on my right hand/wrist from it being broken twice.

i'm really looking forward to the Nook, backlit reading sources seem to be better for people with eye issues, PLUS the niceness of being able to adjust the font, size, and color of the pages will be nice, too.
