Did you watch
Hit and Miss? I found Episode 1 a bit long-winded but it was worth persisting because from Episode 2 onwards, I was gripped. There's so much in there that I gave up trying to write about how the plot and the characters develop. If you didn't have access to it while it was broadcast, you might like to know that it's available on DVD (see website).
Those in this comm who thought that Chloe Sevigny's character is male-to-female were right. I like it that her gender dysphoria is important in the story but that it's not the only thing going on. It's the reason why Mia works as a contract assassin: she's saving money for her sex change op. It affects how people react to her and how she makes choices. But what she really wants is to be a normal woman living with her family. One time she takes 2 of the kids to buy fish and chips, parks her car, and leaves them to enjoy their meal while she pops out to kill somebody.
I've liked Sevigny since she played the cis girlfriend of a trans man in Boys Don't Cry. She doesn't seem to be making trans stories into her focus, though. She's done other films and telly too. Mia in Hit and Miss is her first leading role and there's an interview with her
here.
