This post has been a long time coming. It should have, in fact, come a week or two ago. Here is the condensed version of what could have been a VERY, VERY LONG POST. It's only because I've been so busy lately, which is GREAT but also exhausting. But mostly great.
SEPTEMBER.
+ 5th: Wicky Wii Party that ended up just being us kids sitting around. Well, no, we did play Mario Soccer Strike but Em and I basically hate it. Pretty sure it's a boy thing.
+ 6th: Scrabble at my place with Fatboy, Dudley and Stavros.
+ 7th: Haeli & Laura in town for One Night Only, therefore group dinner at Sitar Indian Restaurant in West End. Delicious. Pete, Kristen and I played winking games because we're amazing. The games are hard to describe and banal at best.
+ 8th: Lunch with relatives for Grandad's birthday; back to Beaudesert/Mum's place for the night as my brother was in town; sat around playing conversation games and then headed out to Beauy Pub to catch up with some old friends, remembered how tragic Beaudesert's scene is.
+ 9th: afternoon - Skipping Girl Vinegar at the Powerhouse for live spark - basically awesome. Drummer Chris gave me a shout-out that was one part awesome and one part revealing me as slightly freakish when it comes to my love for bands ("We met her when she flew all the way down to Melbourne just to see one of her favourite bands..." Me: T_T); evening - Scrabble and pizza at the Alibi Room with Sean & Kylie Bower and Sam. Kylie trounced us all, twice over.
+ 10th: Emma, Pete, Chris Perren, Brendan and I decided to hit up Sakura Sushi for some old-school train love. Following that, a viewing of Snakes on a Plane. We were all in the best mood for it, too - lots of screaming and loud exclaiming. Hilarious.
+ 12th:
frock in town for One Night Only; abducted her from her hotel and drove around a bit with Emma and Pete in tow. Poor thing had tonsilitis but I demanded that she come out anyway. Am horrible friend. Drove really badly all night. Still feel bad about it. Also got us lost for a bit. Was awesome.
+ 13th: Saw the Cat Empire at the Tivoli with workmates Sandra and Lea. Sandra is hilarious. She's a mum with three teenage kids; she's about four foot nothing. Despite my best advice she wore heels to the gig and had to have a sit-down break about five times.
+ 14th: Valley Fiesta. Headed in early to see Grand Atlantic with Sam, hung out with Kylie Bower and her friend for a drink, headed back in to see Tim Steward. Met up with posse (Emma, Adam, Pete, Chris Perren, Hitomi plus stragglers Sam, Ange, Fatboy + Stavros) for Yum Cha, or what we wanted to be Yum Cha but ended up just being Chinese. The banquet was freaking huge. Delicious, though.
+ 15th: Set off for Sydney, accompanying Fatboy on the road trip down, as she was moving. With the car full of a large part of her life (epitomised by shoes and clothes), we hit the road. Roughly seven hours later, we cruised into Port Macquarie for the night. Saw Hairspray. Loved it. :))
+ 16th: Road Trip, Part II. Got into Sydney at around 2pm. Hit Newtown with Dajh (he's still down there for his touring gig). Found wonderful cafe called Circle 8. Ended up back at his temp home at Randwick for take-away Thai while watching Idol.
+ 17th: Breakfast with
Lozzo aka
bobbypin (first time ever, kind of crazy; she's adorable). Booked Fatboy into Backpackers Hostel at Newtown. Back to Circle 8 because we loved it so much. Train into city and played tourists for a few hours. Another train to the airport. Emma picked me up; went over to the boys' place for a sleepover with Pete. We copulated, btw. We're going to call our children Pem and Mete (that's pronounced "meat").
+ 18th: Breakfast for Pete's birthday at the Alibi Room (third option, as first two were closed) with Pete, Emma, Brendan and Chris Perren. I love the Alibi Room more and more with every visit. Delicious bagelly goodness. Ended up back over at the boys' place in the afternoon. Out to see Whitley at the Troubadour in the evening with Pete, Chris Perren, Hitomi and Sam. I heart Whitley.
+ 20th: cocktail testing at the Alibi Room (uh oh... becoming a theme) with Emma, Cat and Sophia (two of Kylie P's friends that I stole for the night). Backseat Lovin' a hands down hit. Followed cocktails with chai tea and a rousing round and a half of Scrabble, just Em and I.
Most of this stuff can be seen photographically at my
flickr site.
