Florida - Here we are

Julia and I have had a busy week. Tuesday, we drove to Chattanooga. We spent the night with my aunt (who turns 80 this month). Her daughter dropped off her two daughters so they could play with Julia. Aunt Betty and Uncle Alan, were kind enough to drive Julia and me to the airport on Wednesday.

Julia did really well during her first flight. We were the first to board, since families with small children can board first. We had three seats to ourselves. We read stories, and I don't think I have ever seen Julia eat so much. I brought snacks for her. I gave her string cheese to eat. I think that help the chewing motion so her ears popped.

The flight attendant recommended that we be the last off the plane (we were at the end of the plane). They opened up the back and the front for unloading, but the front had the ramps versus the stairs.

A nice airport worker carried Julia's carseat to security for me. My sister in law, Brandi, and my nephews were there waiting for us. We then went to dinner.

After dinner we dropped the boys off, and went to pick up Grandma Jo - back at the airport. Brandi drove us out to her father's house.

Yesterday, Richard and Lynda (Pa and MeMa) went to work. They left a car here for us to use. Grandma Jo and I loaded Julia into it and took her to the grocery store. We needed a few supplies for a project I wanted to do.

This morning, MeMa babysat Julia, while Richard, Grandma, and I went to the casinos. I was up $30, but then lost it down to $4. I cashed out and bought me a sandwich. So I broke even for the day.

Grandma lost $100. She usually wins. Richard gave her $10 to play while I went to go get food (I was getting sick hungry). I stalled after eating and called Mic. It is a good thing I did too. When I made it back to the slots, Grandma was on her last pull. She had $0.15 left. When she did her last spin, she hit x5 x5 red 7. She was playing 2 cent slots, so she only ended up with $75!!! She didn't make all of her money back, but at least she didn't lose $100.

After we got back to the house, Brandi met us here. She wanted to help with our project. Ever since I started dating Mic, he told me about his grandmother's Potica (her mother's recipe). It is like a coffee cake cinnamon roll. It is really good, and apparently not well known outside of Slovenia. Mic can make it. I learned that there is a dish that Mic's other great grandmother made - Apple strudel. I wanted to learn how to make it.

So, Grandma supervised. Brandi and I made the strudel. While we were waiting for the pastry part of the strudel to rest, we also made a blueberry cheesecake.

We are saving everything for dessert tomorrow. I can't wait!

While we were making everything, Julia woke up from her nap. She did not wake up well. She was very clingy. After we finished up, I sat down with her. She had a fever. I sent Pa to the store to get some medicine for her. She was just a lump in my lap. After 3 hours, and some protein (she ate a whole hamburger), she started acting like herself. She was bouncing and spinning around the living room. Something was definitely not right with her. But it was good to see that she recovered.

I decided I better journal my day, since it was so busy. It has been good so far. Tomorrow, the nephews come back over for a cookout. Monday, Julia and I are going to see Mic's mom. She is coming to get us, and take us back home with her for a few days. She will then drive us back to the airport on Wednesday.
