At lunch today, I cooked Julia some green beans. She usually does really well at eating her vegetables.
For myself, I made a peanut butter sandwich, and some potato chips. Not as healthy as her green beans, but I really wanted the chips.
Turns out, Julia wanted the chips too. She came into the living room where I was eating. Her green beans were on her little table in the kitchen. When she saw my potato chips, she reached for one. I told her that she had to eat a green bean, and I would give her a chip. I had to repeat three times. Mic started to get up to get her a green bean, but Julia was quick. She raced around the corner, and got a green bean, and ate it. (I didn't witness it myself, Mic had the better view).
When she came back, I gave her a potato chip. She happily crunched away. Then she came back for more. I told her the same thing. "If you eat a green bean, I will give you a chip."
Took only two coaxings that time, and she went again to eat a green bean.
We did this a couple of more times. At one point, she wanted a chip, but refused a green bean. I then told her that if she drank some milk, I would give her a chip. She complied. She got her chip.
