We get a list of people we're interested in speaking to, and are supposed to ask for them by name. Getting a random person is pointless - they might not even be a registered voter.
Yes that's what's puzzling me, I can't think of a constituency in the country where we would send the MP to the door without the names on the register.
That is really quite failsome and would result in me taking details so I knew who it was and then telling them to leave my property and withdrawing the implied right to access my property to that individual.
