Uncanny

Disclaimer: The subject for this post is supposedly the strange luck I've had with making plans with people this weekend, but maybe I'll think of something more interesting to read about.

To start off, Thanksgiving weekend is nearly over. I came over to NYC to visit Shrews and some other friends I have in the area, or at least tried to. Of all the plans I had made, about 20% of them have come to fruition. Wednesday night started off well, with the bus coming in on time and having Naruto ramen with Shrews and Deepyaman. I hadn't seen Deepyaman in probably a year and ramen is always good to catch up with people. In preparation for Thanksgiving day plans, we bought Taboo and messed around with that for the evening.

Then comes Thanksgiving, where our plan was to have lunch with Ali and dinner with Austin and her brother. Ali bails early since her parents couldn't let her out - w/e. Shrews and I go to the local deli and grab a small sandwich for lunch. I make some phone calls to family and friends and we move on. Austin also cancels since I was apparently misunderstanding our plans and we try to move plans to Saturday. Since that was known fairly early on in the day, I call up Christina so Shrews and I aren't alone for our Thanksgiving shabu shabu dinner. She agreed, but when we called to make sure she was on the right train down, she cancelled on us too.

At this point, I'm kinda confused as to how I'm getting so many cancels, but heck it's Thanksgiving. We eat, we try to sleep (a cute mouse showed up), and then I wake up early because STEPHIE IS IN TOWN HOLYSHITGODDAMN. Shrews was working Friday, and Stephie's bus came in at 4:30 AM, so I went out and met up with her. Then came Black Friday shopping! Our first purchase was a pretzel at Macy's. Lunchtime kinda got skipped since I was too tired to stay awake after 7 hours of walking around downtown. Dinnertime came around and we went to a tiny noodle place in deep Chinatown.

Afterwards, I bought a quick present for Risa (did I mention I have an SO now? Well, I do :x) as well as a game called Banana Balance! Barnes and Noble had a 50% off any one 'Educational toy or game', which includes their Legos, apparently. Would've been really sweet, but there weren't any really good sets, so I paid $5 for Banana Balance instead (It comes with a monkey, a tree, and like 12 bananas ^^). At the apartment, I concluded my Black Friday purchases with Shrews' mini-Tyrael figure that he got from Blizzcon. Pictures will end up on Facebook eventually if anyone's curious. Anyways, we ended the night chatting and being social with each other at the apartment. On the internet side, I got lots of surprised responses from Cornell people who had just found out about my new status. Overall a good day outside of the being tired during the middle of it.

And that brings us to today, where lunch plans had been made with some people I met with last time I was here. Cancelled, of course. Austin coming up to NYC? Cancelled, too. Time to make some new plans? =\ Yeah, I'm still a bit tired right now, but it just seems weird to have so much cancellation in one weekend. Today, I'll call up Ali and hopefully me and Shrews won't be alone together for an entire day again, as much as I like hanging out with him.

On a different note, I looked up a game to play with Risa over the break called Atlantica online. No sooner had I decided to play the game did I go to their website and realize it's hosted by Nexon...Somehow I don't feel like I'll ever escape their grasp.

P.S. Anyone else have a nice Black Friday story to share? Reading the news about this year seems to be pretty bad....
