New feelings

After about 2 weeks of class and clubs and things, I think I'm near settled in. The only thing that's left is how my research work in the Ober group (did I mention I'm in that now? :D) will proceed. I don't have a project nailed down just yet, since it'll depend on another member of the group and what needs to get done, but hopefully I'll be able to put in some good effort on my off days and come out with something really nice.

Clubs-wise, I've basically settled on JUSA, AICHE (just by name), CJAS, and possibly Origami club. Meeting times for all the rest pretty much coincide, or I didn't find the members interesting enough. Fantasia was fun for a bit, but I don't think I can manage to memorize the scores for those with the available time that I have, especially since their practices coincide with the GPSA TGIF things and Ober group meetings.

On another note, it seems I'm much more popular here than I was in Texas, for who knows what reason. After one JUSA meeting, I got like 8 friend requests. A similar thing happened with SAAGA. I'm of the idea that I might be becoming a more memorable person and that I can give off a decent first impression. Linked with this fact is that I'm apparently more popular with the ladies here as well. This won't sound like anything but me tooting my own horn, but I overheard some saying I looked like a jpop star, and others asking around for my name. Also, a fellow ChE was secretly snapping photos of me in class (I'll attribute this one to me being asleep).

As for social life, I think joining JUSA helped out a lot since I managed to network myself back to some of my juniors (!!) from TAMS, after waking up in their roommate's apartment post-Saturday evening activity. I'm not going to say that I necessarily enjoyed this Labor day weekend as much as past ones, but it seems to be a trend that they go quite well, and are memorable experiences (last one was AnimeFest).

Until next time,
-Lee
