This whole disaster's been gnawing at me since it happened. I was following it before it even hit and have been following it before, during and after work everyday. i find it very comforting that it's happened in my country. not just because i hate the u.s. and hate new orleans, i mean to say i'm glad these people live in a place where other people are willing to help them.

Kind of hard for me to notice what ppl in the States are thinking. But I never got the impression that many ppl here in Japan were too working up in the first place over Indonesia. I know there were, but I didn't see a whole lot of outreaching going on here.

I agree. When the huge earthquake hit Bam, Iran awhile back, I was wondering where the massive Let's Help These People! spirit was. Once again, it wasn't that there wasn't any outreaching, rather a more subdued version of what's seen when that sort of thing happens someplace more familiar or friendly.
