Trouble in threes? Oh,no.

On the way to work this morning, there was a little car ahead of me which had a tiny dog in the back. I wouldn't have really thought much other than the dog stuck his head out the rolled-down rear window. And I was thinking that since it wasn't a little vent window like a truck would have, that it was dangerous to have the window all the way down. And that lead me to start wondering how many animals get hurt in accidents because they're not belted down. And about the time that thought went through my head, little dog fell out the window and bounced down the road right in front of me. I pulled over immediately as the gal driving ahead of me was slow to respond- she was swerving all over, but in her panic, forgot to slow down so she went quite a ways ahead of where her lil fuzzball fell out. I tried to roust the lil feller (who was panicked, but seemed otherwise ok) and stopped traffic behind me so they wouldn't run over him as he darted back and forth into the road when I was trying to get him out of the road. Gal finally came and got her dog and gave me a sumimasen!, so I took off. I wasn't sure if work was starting 1/2 hr early, so I was in a hurry to get to work. Wasn't anything I could really do, so off I went.

As I hit Kamisunagawa, the streets were pretty bare as it was still fairly early. As I was going along, though, a middle school student on his bike did a complete faceplant on the sidewalk as I was going by. He was a bit slow to recover at first, but then started getting up and looked mobile, so I didn't stop. Figured once again there wasn't much more I could do since he was ambulatory.

Still made it to work in time. But we weren't starting early. Oh, well. Give me a little time to decompress. Heck of a way to start the day.
