Guess what it's time for another AU
Because I can't get enough of them. Nor can I get enough of this font size.
This one's a little simpler in that it's an AU where Ludwig and Alfred have a slowly budding online relationship.
It all basically starts in primary/elementary school with a pen pal program Alfred's school is involved in. He gets paired up with a boy named Ludwig from Germany. They both become friends quickly upon learning their shared love for dogs and chocolate and other misc things the boys like. The initial pen pal program only lasts through Christmas but Alfred insisted on continuing his new found friendship with Ludwig who completely agrees. They continuously send letters to each other up through middle school, when they both have access to computers. The communication merely switches to e-mail and chat im's.
Without even seeing, or physically talking to each other, Alfred and Ludwig practically grow up together, sharing their struggles and relations with their families and friends and schooling. Ludwig, on his end, deals with the adjustment of having a step-mother and step-brother (fem!Austria and Austria respectively) while his older brother Gilbert becomes distant from their father to the point of being gone for days at a time. Due to the brothers' close bond to one another, Gilbert's new development brings stress to Ludwig. Meanwhile in America Alfred can only watch as the marriage of his parents begins to crumble horribly. All they can do is argue about anything and everything. Normally the two make up and move on but he, as well as his twin brother, can see that things are not getting better for their parents. With the prospect of divorce and separation looming over the boys, Alfred can only find true solace in talking to Ludwig.
Their friendship quickly buds into a mutual crush by the time high school rolls around. By then Ludwig has become somewhat accustomed to hardly ever seeing Gilbert and Alfred's parents had officially divorced, leaving him and his brother living with either parent (Alfred with their mom and Matthew with their dad). With new hardships their way (mostly school and peer pressure related) Ludwig decided to take his money originally for a new computer and puts it towards a trip to America during Alfred's spring break. This gives them a chance to confess their feelings, establishing a long distance relationship.
Though having to deal with being with someone continents away Alfred and Ludwig are able to pull through until college. Alfred gets a pleasant surprise upon finding out Ludwig had enrolled in the same college.
Like I say, these sound a lot better in my head. I might also start posting basic family structure AUs/headcanons.
