Watched the movie Garden State last night.
I think I enjoyed it, but I'm not sure, which I find weird. I guess I feel a bit uncomfortable. I don't really want to identify with these characters. But it's a good movie. But maybe I expected more scrubs laughs? And also I kept forgetting that Natalie Portman is really a fantastic actress. Wow.
But I find it particularly interesting that they shot it for $2.5 million. I couldn't tell anywhere in the movie that it was done on the cheap, it seemed completely professionally well done. Which leaves me wondering what other movies get for the extra 20, 40, or 80 million they spend. I get it when they're busy blowing stuff up, but how does Gangs of New York cost 100 freaking million? Sea Biscuit was 85 million. How expensive can one horse be?
It's also odd that spending $2.5 million over the course of 25 days can be considered cheap.
In conclusion, money is weird and confusing.
