Sitting on a sunny rock with the wind whistling a happy tune through the open forest.

50m away my minions are hoisting a waterblaster up a Power Pylon to repeat a job they didn't get quite right the first time. I can't blame them, the guy using the gun was a trainee. Frankly when a trainee manages to get through their first day without killing themselves I consider that a 'win'. It's been a bad month for the transmission industry in Australasia, scratch one, another uncertain.

Ooo, a cute little huntsman spidey just sneaked into my laptop bag! So cute & fuzzy. It's about half the size of my hand. :o)

Wollongong is a marvellous town about half the size of Hamilton, 100km south of Sydney.
The people are friendly, they're party animals on Friday night, and those with short memories do so again on Saturday night.

There's a huge gym with heaps of gear, and also music videos visible from most machines. The exercise bikes face 6 screens, with a choice of unbelievably bad Australian TV channels. It's more fun without TV sound. I befriended a fitness freak (she's forever on the bikes) we pick a channel and do voiceovers. :oP

I've been here 6 weeks now, working on many projects, almost done. My apologies in advance for any lapses into the vernacular next time we meet, please prepare the deprogramming kit.

XLan is next weekend (7th to 9th), and I'll be coming back to NZ in time to attend. I'm in training for the Warcraft tournament. Where I'll get utterly maimed. Simply not enough tournament experience. And I don't have nearly enough Korean Genetics. (/salute Korean game-jedi) :o)
Still, as they say, you can't achieve the impossible unless you attempt the absurd.

If you want any leech from XLan, or any duty-free please post your orders here, I'm happy to oblige.

Leonard and I are hitting Ohakune 3-11 Sept, and have accomodation at a chalet, I might be able to weasel another spot if anyone is interested?

Protracted work trips sometimes bring enlightenment, but this time I've been too busy thinking technical thoughts to grow wiser, so mainly it's driven home just how much I value time with friends. I totally look forward to soaking in your craziness again.

Oh, and if Perrin should read this... Congratulations! Sorry I couldn't make Brisbane today, but I hope the day was awesome. I assume it was traditional, so... How many camels did you score? :o)

Love 'n' Bugs
Dog.
