Dear diary, this weekend I drove to Wellington.
For some parts I lack the words,
for others I have good solid Celtic words:
Armageddon. (??)

Arse. The venue was rubbish, few vendors, only two worthwhile guests.
LoTR exhibition at Te Papa. (?!)

Cool stuff on display. Unfortunately it wasn't particularly *well* displayed. If you're going to display intricate weaponry you should provide sufficient light to make that detail clear.
Also, the magical stuff wasn't really magic!
OK, so I should have anticipated that.
But it wouldn't have taken a whole lot of effort to shine a light through Galadriel's phial. It is named the 'Light of Eärendil' so maybe displaying it with some light would have been appropriate...
Still, the armour and swords were cool, and the concept artwork was spellbinding.
Gaming (!)

The gamers of Wellington are marvellous, I miss their rabid enthusiasm. I dropped a subtle hint about gaming and they went out of their way to smite me with gamey goodness.
Party (!!)

OK, so it was a little soggy, and I only got a perfunctory back-rub. The conversation was good, and I'm not accustomed to laughing uncontrollably.
Onward, and Homeward (!?)

It all turned to porridge this morning. I'm working in Sydney from Thursday to Monday, which means that I'm going to miss the party at Karen's. The challenges will be epic, but the timing is rotten :o(
