1. What did you do in 2004 that you'd never done before?
Went to San Francisco, moved out, walked the West Highland Way (95 fuckin' miles), bought a guitar, made a bet at a bookies

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Shit I can't even remember what they were... I'm guessing they would have had something to do with going for more suitable girls and doing more writing, so no.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No one close... only person I know who gave birth was j00lia.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
My uncle.

5. What countries did you visit?
The US and England.

6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004?
Sound judgement.

7. What date from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Ummmm... none of them, really.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Knowing when it was time to quit a crap job, and managing to get a real job.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Not knowing when to quit something else.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I got a pretty bad cold right in the summer, and I never get colds, but that was it. Think it was my body adjusting to not being in a workplace where the atmosphere is 67% smoke...

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Hmmmm... probably the minidisc player for my car.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Ryan Adams. Hero.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Justin Hawkins. Twat.

14. Where did most of your money go?
In order: rent/bills, car insurance, alcohol, eating out, CDs, DVDs, petrol, comics.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Seeing certain gigs, buying twinkies in a convenience store at 7am on my first day in San Fran, seeing certain girls.

16. What song will always remind you of 2004?

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? prolly about the same, I'm usually on a pretty even keel.
ii. thinner or fatter? slightly thinner.
iii. richer or poorer? I'm making WAY more money but for some reason I'm poorer.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Going out.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Working.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Going to stay at my parents, going to pubs and parties with friends, watching movies, getting drunk, eating a lot.

Maybe...

Technically none, but one fuck buddy.

23. What was your favorite film of this year?
Hmmm... I think it's been a below-average year, but probably The Incredibles or Spidey 2. Think I'm forgetting something though... I liked Collateral a lot but it was let down by the ending. The Girl Next Door was surprisingly good too.

24. What was your favorite TV program?
I watched hardly any TV, so probably ER or The West Wing

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Hate's a strong word, but there's one person in particular (rhymes with 'bitchard') that could be given a judicious ass-kicking with some satisfaction on my part...

26. What was the best book you read?
The Right Stuff by Tom Wolfe - awesome, best non-fiction book I've ever read. American Tabloid by James Ellroy was great too. Comic-wise, The Sandman series.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Jesse Malin probably, the one and only time I've been glad I was at a concert early enough to catch the support.

28. What did you want and get?
A guitar, a good job, Laura, twinkies.

29. What did you want and not get?
My car fixed, Gillian, a book deal.

30. Did you make any new friends this year?
Yeah - Cat, Allen, Lailabelle, Gemma, Neill, Claire, Eddie, Liz, Stacey - mostly through work.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was 25 and I can barely remember since it was January... I think I got dinner at TGIs then got drunk with Joannah. Went to the Cathouse on the Saturday after.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Never having to get up before noon.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004?
Non-existent?

34. What kept you sane?
Coke.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Lindsay Lohan :) 43

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The US election, both because it was exciting in a way UK politics never is, and because I'm slightly better off financially under a Republican administration (cause I put £50 on Bush so I wouldn't feel bad if he won).

37. Who did you miss?
No one important...

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Claire or Laila.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2004:
Don't go to T in the Park - the good bands always suffer serious injuries the week beforehand and pull out :(
