Tags are basically just a way of organizing the entries. They're also listed on the main page of the community so you can search for certain posts by specific subjects.
After you post, you can hit the image that looks like this: In the list of tags, you just click on those that are appropriate to the post.
Since you're talking about the FNL DVDs, the appropriate tag would be "dvds" :)
