My Friday FU
Two targets here...
First FU goes to the geniuses in the highway works department who felt that it was a good idea to create a few ruts on I290 in Shrewsbury on either sides of bridges. When you hit one of these, it's such a sharp impact that it goes right through the whole car. I was waiting to hear something rattle or a tire to pop from those things. Brillant idea, folks. And if my wife's car has any damage, I know who to blame.
Second is a long-standing Bigby's Big Bird to the gasoline industry in this country. $2.48 for a gallon of regular??? WtF??? Pretty soon it'll be way too expensive to drive anywhere. Damn good thing I'm not doing field calls anymore, because I don't think the $0.34 a mile in compensation would do it -- I'd be asking for half a buck these days, especially since I fuelled up at least twice a week for the job. Granted, with my little Nissan PoS, I fill up once a week and get 33-35 miles per gallon (how I do that, I have no idea... lots of highway driving, though), it's still getting way up there.
So FU, petroleum industry. FU indeed!
And how's this one?
A woman in New Hampshire had her house raided this week. What the police found was a house in squalor -- no walls (just insulation and studs), barnyard animals (read: pigs, goats, chickens) and their waste strewn all over the place, garbage sitting in bags rotting... and she's complaining because they took her animals away, considering taking her children away, charging her with neglect, and ordering her to get her house in a livable condition. And she has the gall to say that she's the victim??? That her kids are ridiculed in school??? And that she cant' afford to do anything, and she'll accept donations from anyone who will help her???
Here's fifty cents. Call someone who could possibly give two shits. Oh wait, you've got enough of that splattered all over your home already.
So you can't afford the time, the energy, the effort, or the money to try and provide for your children? FU.
You have farm animals in your house, making messes all over the place, and threatening the health and well-being of your children? FU.
FU, lady. FU. Go straight to FU. Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200. Just FU.
