Okay, I might have aimed the guns at this group before, but I'd like to direct my casting of Bigby's Big Bird (a spectral hand appears before you and flips you off) to Reverend Donald Wildmon and the American Family Association out of Tupelo, MI. (On a side note, I've dealt with one of American Family Radio's engineers on quite a few occasions.. nice enough guy, but I don't care for his employers.)
What did they do this time? How about coercing NBC to drop The Book of Daniel from their lineup? And now they're calling for a boycott of NBC and sponsors because of an upcoming episode of Will and Grace, where guest star Britney Spears plays a Christian TV talk show co-host with a cooking segment called "Crucifixins."
I'd like to borrow something from Bill Maher. It's called the "Get Over Yourself" Award. I'm presenting to to the Rev and his cronies for taking things waaaaaaaaaay too seriously.
The Man Himself (George Carlin) has said it to you before, and we'll say it again, paraphrased and updated: There are two buttons on the remote control of which you should be made aware: the channel up/down button, and the power button. One of them changes the station, the other turns the damn thing off. Imagine that. You can actually chose to watch or not to watch a certain program... or you can choose to not watch anything at all! It's called Freedom of Choice. Look it up in the libray, that is if there are any left after you have finished burning all the books.
Rev, you and your followers need to learn to not take things, especially life, so seriously. Learn to laugh once in a while, especially at yourself. It's a big step towards feeling secure.
That's all I have for now...
