Before I get to the story I must say Fring tonight was totally awesome.. I'll have to write something on it sooner or later. But lets just say it had a moment that we in the Lost fandom would've called a 'SQUEE'  moment. I freakin love those  I would do a fic on this show but like Lost it's a continuing story that would only allow me to do either one-shots or to do one in the off-season so I've decided to put that off. But it will come eventually.

What I did write about is anotehr show I watch. I've had this idea for a long time and finally got the inspiration to sit down and actually write it. It's my first non-Lost one so i'm a bit nervous but I hope you like it. It's NCIS and it's focussed on all the main characters, so it posed it a challenge, but i've been watching it long enough to all ow me to get the essence of most of the characters. It's dramatic, and very character involved and i'm just sure how it's going to end up but I like it so far. And it's one of 2 fics i'm working on. The other is Lost related. And like I said, there will be a Fringe one eventually too.
I tried to make this easir to follow in case there's someone reading it who hasn't seen NCIS. So I hope you enjoy..it will seem dark at times but it will lighten up in several places. And I'm gonna make use of flashbacks as well.. so here goes...

Chapter 1 Filling Jagged Spaces...

For Tony it seemed like time slowd down, giving an awful calirty to evedything. Like in a movie when they slowed down every second of footage, allwing you to see all the details you would've missed otherwise. Only this wasn't a movie. As much as he would later wish it was.

They busted through the door, like they'd done a million times, Ziva taking pint, McGee on the other point. He himself was in the back, and had just enough time to see the gunmen pop up before they were assailed at every angle. McGee went down first, and Tony heard Ziva scream something as he fired as well.

He saw McGee fall, as he saw Ziva get off a shot that hit one of the gunmen, right before he felt pain in several place. Tony fired off another cople of shots and saw Ziva spin to the ground as well in that terrible calirty. He hit the ground not long after, feeling warm blood flow out of him.

Barely able to move he turned his head and saw McGee unconcious in the corner, blood coming out the side of his head, and slowly turned his head to see Ziva face down, with a large amount of blood around her too. It was like a nightmare complet with the sounds of their assilants scattering and the sound of Gibbs voice in his ear piece, sounding far away and tinny.

"REPORT DINOXO!" he seemed to scream from far away, and Tony tried to answer but the blackness was filling his head.

"Down..." was all he managed to whsper. "All..down.."

The next thing he heard was sirens, off in the distance. This time they were coming for him, for all of them. His eyes closed and he fell into black for awhile, merciful black.

4 Hours Earlier...

"What the hell is McGoo whislting??" Tony asked Ziva, who was filling out a case report. "I don't like it.. it's liek he's way too happy."

"Why he can't just be in a good mood?" She answered, not even looking up. "Or is it just your narciissitc need to knw everything?"

Tony shot her almost offended look. "I'm the Senior Agent, it's my job to know what's going on.." He asked, his eyes flickking over at McGee again. "Speaking of that.. why are you so grumpy this morning David?

Ziva pressed her hand to head, wishing he would shut up for a few minutes but with Tony that ws unlikedly, and ignoring him just made it worse. So she thought of an excse to avoid telling the truth riright now. "I have been going to through case reports and paperwork all week and I have a headache.." She confessed, running her fingers through her long dark hair. "it's monotonous and it's drivng me crazy.."

"Aaaaaah" Said Tony, leaning back in his chair. "you haven't had to firre your gun in a week and you miss it doncha?"

She glared at him, rubbing her head. "I am feeling the urge to fire it now if you do not sut up.." She hissd at him, slamming her her hand on the dexk. "And you know that is not a mere threat.."

"Duly noted.." Tony said, quickly turning from Ziva, and turning his attention back to McGee. "Ok McGoo, spill it.." He said in a quiet voice as to agitate Ziva. "Your happiness has been annoying me."

McGee smiled and put down his paperwork, knowing like Ziva that he wouldn't shut up until he had the answer. "If you must know Tony I have a date tonight."

Tony chuckled and scampered over to McGee's deck. "Is there a Dungeons and Dragons convention in town or something? How the hell did you get a date?" Tony asked derisivvel twirling a pen. "Wait a minute... is she even real?"

"Why are you jealous?"

"I don't get jelous..." Tony answereed, walking around McGee like a cop walks around a suspect he's questioning. Ziva scoffed at her desk audibly upon hearin that.t.

"No comment from Miss Grumpypants over there." Tony said, giving her a glare that was only mildly threatening. "Now... tell me about this supposedly real woman whose desperate enough to date you."

But beofre McGee could answer Abby's voice broke throuh, toned with her usual excuberance. "Guys! You remember my friends band?" She asked them, running in, her boots clicking on the flor.

"That would be Brain Matter right?" Tony asked, wincing inwardly, knoing what was coming next. "What about them?"

"They're back in town.. and.. since you all blew me offl last time." She said, adding a tone of guilt into her vvoice. "I was hoping you'd all come and check it out tonight with me.." She gave them all a look, that was marginally a glare. "Please?"

"Well Abs as I much as I love Brain Matter and all.. I do have a date tonight." McGee said, causing a wince from the others as he said it.. Abby cocked her head at him and he suddendly felt guilty. "All maybe i'll stop by with her."

"Good.." Abby grinned and turned to Ziva. "Ziva?"

"I have a headache..." She started and then looked up at her friend, who was using the puppy dog eyes big tieme. "II can pick up some aspirin..I suppose.."

While she'd been haranging the others, Tony had tried to make a break for it, attempting to leave before Abby got to him. "Tony?" She asked, with her hands on her hips, causing him to stop short and turn with a sheepish grin. "Your going right?"

"Of course.." He said, seeing Ziva and McGee enjoying themselves immensly at Abby putting him on the spot. "Wouldn't miss it.."

"Good!" Said Abby cheerfully, going over and giving him a hug. "Knew you wouldn't let me down again.."

Satisfied Abby bounced off toward her lab, knowing htey would hold up their promises. She did have access to guns and poisions after all. And she was just good making them feel guilty. No one did the puppy dog eyes as good as Abby Schuto.

"Shut up.." Said Tony, seeing Ziva and McGee still smiiing at him as he walked to his desk. "We'll see whose laughing when McGee shows up with some midget from the circust."

"Is your family in town Dinozo?" Asked Gibbs as he walked into the room the way he always did.

Another snicker from the others caused Tony glare at them again. "Stop enjoying yourselvves.."

"Gear up." Said Gibbs, grabbing something rom his desk. "We have a raid to perform."

Ziiva brightened a little. "Finally something to do." She said grabbing her bag.

"Yeah boss apparently Ziva's been intching to kick some ass." Tony interjected. "she's all moody."

"Careful Dinozo or I just might let her drive." Was Gibbs reply as they got in the elevator. "And you put you in the back seat.."

"But the.. seatbelts broken.." Tony protested, looking at a smirking Ziva.

Gibbs just smiled as the elevator doors closed. "Precisly.."

Present...

As the ambulance tok away his team, Agent Gibbs took in the scene, holding off any anger and pin he might be feeling in his need to do his job for his team. Another unit had been called in in emergency and where inventory. He could've been at the hospital, but he had to at least do that job, not just for his team, but himself as well.

Flashes were going off, as pictures where being taken of the scene, and he could see the blood on the floor lit by the flashes. Hear the voices in the background, but all he could really hear was the horror-show he'd heard over the headset. Of the shots and the yelling. Of everything that could do nothing about now. And all he kept thinking was.. it was a set-up.. an ambush. And there would be hell to pay when he found the culprits.

Ducky arrived along with Palmer wnd he barely heard them when they said hello. Under somber circumstances they were alot quieter. And thery were here cause there was a body. One of the shooters didn't make it out.

"Well I wish I could say I felt sorry for this unfortunate fellow.. but.." Said Ducky, with little reserve. "But I'd say he got what was coming to him.."

Gibbs leaned down to look at the body, seeing the death wound, a shot to the head he could only presume was done by Ziva, the best shot in the group. "She bagged one of them." He said flatly, fighting an urge to kick the body more than a few times. "Even after she was shot."

"It appears our Ziva has deadly aim under any circumstances." Observed Ducky, examining the body, as Palmer got the bag for it. He looked up at Gibbs. "How are they?" he asked, not having to specivy who he meant.

"I don't know.." Gibbs answered honestly. "I just saw alot of blood.."

"Why aren't you at the hosptial?" Ducky asked, looking up and studying Gibbs. "I think it is under contorl here.."

Taht was a good pint, why wasn't he? But he knew why. Cause he wasn't prepared yet. After Kate, and Jenny, and others of course. He wasn't peepared. He never would be it seemed. "Because I gotta make a phone call first.." He said and tuned, lifting his phone and dialing ujp a number as he walked away.

Ducky knew Gibbs well, and the knew the look on his face. There would be hell to pay before this was over. "Let's get him in the truck Mister Plamer.." He said saimply and they proceeded to do that. Getting away from the killing zone, which smelled of and blood and worse things.

---------------------------------------------------------

In her lab Abby hung up her phone, feeling numb. It actually fell out of her hand and she could've given a shit as to whether it would break or not. Her normal cheery deameanoer seemed to abandon her and all she could think of was.. not again. She couldn't go through this again.

To Abby they were all family, Tony was like a brother, Ziva was her best friend and McGee, well he was special wasn't he? At this moment the thought of lossing any of them like theyh'd lost Kate and Jenny, filled her with fear and sadness. It also made her angry as well.

She grabbed her baby, and fpicked up her phone off the floor, thowing it in her bag. She locked up the lab and wiped the tears from her eyes and went to her car without a thought. She knew tnongith and longer would be hard, and there were forensics she would need to work on. And she would work her ass off. But for now. She had to be near her friends.

They were family after, and family was very important to Abby. You looked out for eachother. It was that simple.

As an afterthought she grabbed her stuffed animal as well, squeezing and hearint it fart. She smiled a little as she went ou tthe door, leaving the base for the hospital.

-------------------------------------------------------

Tony awoke to beeping. Very annoying beeping actually. He thought it was his alarm but then realized he was in pain. And the room became clearet to his foggy eyes. It was a hspital. He was still trying to fgure out how he got here. And someone in the room came into focus.

"Boss?" He asked groggily. "What...what happened?"

Gibbs stood there with his arms crossed for a moment before answering. "You don't remember?"

Tony looked at him confused and then it started to come back to him. Shots. Blood. McGee and Ziva. The heart monitor measured that his heart was beating a bit faster than normal. "We were... ambushed.. " He said attempting to get up. "Where are they? Are they alright?"

Gibbs shook his head. Truth is he didn't know The other 2 were still in surgery at the moment. But he knew this agent was feeling it. But was nowhere near how bad it would get for him as well. He pushed him back down on the the hospital bed and stared at him, attempting to to teady him.

"I don't know Tony." He told him. "But I want I do know..is your gonna help them by hurting yourself either.

He laid back on the bed, feeling pain in his shoulder and side flaring up. Along with a pain of a different kind. The memories wouldn't go away now. He could see it over and over again like a nightmare he couldn't turn off.

"It's my fault.." He said quietly. "If they die it's my fault.."

"They're not dead yet.." corrected Gibbs. "And it's not your fault.."

"I'm the Senoir Agent.. it is my fault." He answered, feeling fuzzy again. The drip was working it magic again. "Shoul've.. gone in.. first..."

His eyes closed and Gibbs knew he was gonna fall asleep again. And maybe that was best. He sat down on the chari and watched him for awhile, thinking dark thoughts of his own.
