The End (A Look back) Part 1
Since Sept of 2004, i've tried to think about the changes, the things that have happened since I started watching a a certaion. And the answer was, life happened. Sometimes good, sometimes not so good. My eyesight has gone bad since then, and yet my Red Sox nded their 86 year drought and won not one but 2 World Series titles. Friends and family have gotten married, had children, and I've switched jobs. Things have changed dramatically. And i've made some fantastic friends as well. And through this time, this show has been her, sometimes making me angry, sometimes sad, sometimes happy but always backfor more. Like life, it changed and evolved, and the peole you watched felt like friends as well. It's tough to see anything go that your attached to. But we must, someday, like Christian says at the end, let go. Time to move on in a sense, and to remember as well.
now that that's out of the way, it's time for my recap.. it's gonna be in 2 parts cause there is no way in hell I can do this in one... So here goes..
The End of All Things....

Life is a cirlle.. things always come back around to beginning again....
Lost began back on September 22, 2004 with the opening of an eye...Jacks eye as he lay in the jungle. We know what happened after that. Anyone who watches the show dosen't need a full on recap of events. But the opening eye was a symbol of a mission, and a waking as well. It was the beginning and the beginning, the 'once upon a time' 'long time ago in a glaxy farr far away' is always better than the end. Cause of all the possiblities that exist in the beginning. Lost began better than any shw and ended better as well. But what happened inbetween made it the show it was it was.. So lets take a look at the finale, the end of it all...
it appears as if Jack's Dad finally arrived..
I got a voucher from an airline for losing my bags once, what do they give you when they lose a damn body? Better be something good...
Jacks offfice looks like any other office....
picutes of family.. father, son and grandad.. and they look happy don't they?"
Its interesting the use of water...
Water is the elixir of life, without it there wouldn't be any of us. It's the symbol of life too, it's use in baptisms as a reneweal of the soul and spirit. And here is coming out of the cave of light. The relisoug connotations of it are hard to miss. Drinking from this particular water seems to make you immortal, special. Makes you a protector oflife. And Jack stands it for awhile in what looks like a very religous moment of awakening.
The wheelchair is a symbol of restraint to Locke..
A restraint he'll soon be free of as it seems later.. but that's later..
A broken mirror is another symbol..
A broken spirt.. and a distorted image that one has to overcome. Sawyer broke the mirror, pissed at seeing himself the way he was. Not knowing that this was a mirage too. Our images of what we are and what we want to be are often disttorted. Sawyer was already who he needed to be before this world. Sometimes it takes you along time to se through the distortion and see ourselves as we truly are...
Kate is sitting in a car looking confused.. just like the rest of us..
Watching Desmond sign for a coffin of someone neither one of them knows, well not yet at least.. And when he comes back she asks him what the fuck is gong on here?
"Christian Shepard? That's a jok right?" But when you think about it..it's quite an appropriate name don't you think?
Desmond tells her he needs to show them something, and that he wants to leave. "And go where?" Asks Kate. But Des knows Katesnot ready for the answer yet.. It's not the right moment. That moment will come in it's time. Once something iaccomplished.
Meanwhile Jack dosen't seem to mind that his socks are getting soaked...
But it very Christlike ain't it? And Sawyer's like "ooooook Docwec can go for a swim later.. got a bad guy to take care of and a Magic Leprechan to rescue.."
And looks confused as all hell as well. But Sawyer has always been the yin to to Jacks Yang so to speak. A counterbalcce to him. The mutual respect that exist between them in spite of their differences has been one of the keys to the show. They are true friends in the sense that they've been pretty been through evertything together now. It's a unique bond.
While Team Jack is working on their plan.. Hurely is sttting with his particular hostage...whose wondering what he hellis going on.
Hurley" "This ringing any bells? you and me and trangqulaizer gun?"
Sayid is having freightening visions of waking up in a bathtub full of ice and missing a kidney. "Your insane..." And Hurley is like 'Dude you'll be very happy if you stick wilth me.." And And Sayid is like "Your the one one with the gun..."
Hurley scampers over to the hotel room and knocks on the door.. and look....
It's the Bloody Rock God looking he just went on the mother of all benders. Telling Hurely he'd rather trip the light fantastic than perfom some stupid show. "now if you'll excuse me there's another 5t h of whiskey with my name on it. And hurelys answr...
"Sorry dude time to go night night.." And pops him with a trank. And lugs him out to the car, sort of like he did with Sayid himself once upon a time. And as he loads Charlie into the trunk Sayid is like 'who the fuck is that?"
And Hurley is like "oth that's just Charlie..so shall we go?"
Sayid: "Who the fuck is Chalrie and what the hell are you gonna do to him?"
And Hurely is like 'hehe" And drives off to his next destination..On the island Hurley is like shut the hell up Kate.."
"Why do you always pick the moments when were' about to die to pull your little fits" Now is not the time really. Kate dsoen't want Jack to do what he's doing, but Jack is focused on his particular mission now. It's not the time for heart to hearts.
Flocke meanwhile is like "lets see I've got rope and a bug-eyed apprenttice do I need anything else?"
And Sawyeres like: "it's times like this when a man finds out what he's made of..."
CLICK CLICK...
"crap...."
Bens like "look what I found..." And takes Sawyer to his maste. Sawyer observes tht's there is no Desmond in the well and Flcocke is like "he stole me lucky charms.."
Sawyers like 'whatever you say Smokey.." And then proceeds to clobber Ben and take is his rifle just like an other bully in his life took his ;lunch money. And then Sawyer takes off, informming Flocke that he isn''t a candidate anymore. And that he'll see him around. And he will. Ben is wondering why Locke own't go after him, and what he meant by destroying the isand. And knows that he was lied to as well. This thing wants onlyy to destory so it can leave.
Meanwhile Desmond wakes up to doggie breath..
And we're like VINCENT!!!!!! :D And then there's Roe!!!
And Bernard....
Happily living out their lives on the island, not getting involved in the crazy shit for the most part, until now that is. They are gonna make Des breakfast island style and then he has to go, but when Bernard goes to check the traps, he comes back with an unpleasnt surpise visitor.
Who bacically threatens to gut Rose and Bernard painfully right in front of Desmod. As repulsed as Des is by the is creep, he is a good man who will not allow harm to come to his friends and agrees to go with the monster. As they are walking they hear a funny noise that is definatly not the birds in the trees. And Ben's like 'what? I had a bad burrito last night.."
And hides his walkie talkie from view.. while on the other side of the island Miles is trying to reach him, cause he found Richard, a little squashed from his encounter with Smokey but otherwise alive..And waht to get on hiswith the mission of blwing the hell out of the plane..
Meanwhile in our sideways reality...Miles is headed to a concert...looks like he drives a Ford Focus.. good car btw..
And is like "heeeeeeey I know that guy..."
I mean he's in a bright yellow Hummer, a kind of noticable care for a fugitiee to be in. And calls his buddy Sawyer to telll him that saw this guy that looks an awful ot like that guy we just arrested earlier and Sawyers like 'umm he's supposed to be at County. And Miles is like 'hell no unless County is a bright yellow Hummer dumbass. "
Now meanwhile... Sun and Jin are having a pre-natal exam in the hospital..
Nnd who should walk in be their docter but Juliet of course...
Seems appropiate dosen't it? And of course we're happy to see her as well. She works on the the sonagram for the baby and the minutes she touches Sun's stomach with the wand, Sun starts flashing back onto the island. She starts remembering Juliet doing something very similar.
there is a significance to the fact that touching seems to bring these memories back. Touching is a connection and Sun's pre-natal on the island was a significant emotional moment for her, and it stands to reason that it would come back first. Juliet dosn't remember yet simply because it wasn't quite as important to her as it was to Sun. And one memory begins to follow another like dominoes..
The things we remember are the most important things to us..
The things that shapped our lives for better or worse...
And allow us to accept and move propoerly.. And as we will see, love is the main connection. Sun and Jin are awakened by the simple act of seeing their baby together, something they didn't get to do in life, but get to do here. And it's notable that they can both speak perfect English once they are aware. They are not alone now, they will be with their friends soon.
In Jacks Sideways life.. fixing Locke seems to be important to him. He dosen't even know why yet though..
He's not quite ready to understand yet. He will be the last to understand for a reason too.
Back on the island.. Richard gets his first gray hair..
And unlike most guys, seems to happy about it. It's very symbolic for him too. He's aging now, he's been given back his mortality in a sesse, and that can be a relief, but he also realizes that he still wants to live as well. While they are out on the water.. they run acros some of the wreckage from the sub, and a body or 2 before they find a living one. And we're happy to see it's everyones favoirte airline pilot and Yankee fan Fank..
And he comes up with a plan... lets get our asses out of her while the gettings good. And Miles and Richard are like 'Amen to that and praise the lord!"
Meanwhile our group comes upon Smokey and Ben and Kate immediatly grabs the rifle and starts shooting...
Even though it dose no good, it probably felt damn good to do it. And of course Flocke is being his usually smug self as Desmond and Ben hit the deck...Telling her she should save her bullets. And trust me.. Kate will remember that.
And when Jack meets up with Flocke he makes him a promise too.. one he plans to make good on.
"I'm gonna kill you.." Shades of Mel Gibson in the Patriot, and like that moive we're like "yesssssss.." Cause if anyone deserves death, it's this guy. The more painful the better.
Jack and Juliet having been married and having a child together is hardly surprising consideing...
Jacks feeling of complete responsibilty for Juliets death on the island. It was probably a way of atoning and looking after her until she found Sawyer again. Jack just dosen't know it yet. And Sawyer and Juiliet almost meet on the elevator..
The moment just insn't right yet though.. But it's coming.
On the island, Sawyer asks Jack what he's gonna do.. And Jacks answer is..
"It has something to do with Desmond.." And is a bit worrid but also a litlte impressed. "That's a hell of a long con Doc.."
And then, Flocke, Jack and Desmond go off on thier own to the cave of light to carry out the particualr endgame they are working on now.
Now the fun begins...
Desmond tries to concince Jack that there's a way to see the people we love again, that he's seen it. That he can get them there. And Jack, who has finally found himself tell him there are no shortcuts, that what's done is done." He already tried to reverse it and it didn't work. You can't fix everything with the push of a button or the dopping of a bomb. There is no do-voer. He's coming ot acceptance on the island.
In Sideways world, Sayid and Hurley are sititng in a car outide some seedy bar in LA.
And Sayid wants to know whats going on why their here, and Hurley says he can't tell him that cause it's against the rules. "Whose rules?" Sayid askes and Hurleys like 'just trust.. cause I trust you.." And this seems to suprise Sayid who asks "why the hell do you trust me?"
"Cause I I think your a good guy Sayid.." He gives him the talk he most likely needed a long time agao. And what Hurley says is spot on. Sayid dosen't think he is because he's been told so many times that he isn't. So many times that you do start to believe it.
Sayid still dosen't believe he's good, even here. Telling Hurley he knows nothing about him. And Hurleys response is. "I know alot about you dude.." And he does. He know exactly what kind of man Sayid really is. And he's about to find for himself. Cause they are distracted by some idiot getting his ass kicked outside the bar.
At the moment we hear a familar voice telling this guy to lay off her broether and then she's thrown to the ground and Sayid dosen't even think about to next. Jumps out of the car and kicks that guys ass. And then reaches down to help the woman who was throw so rudely into the garbab bags.
And of course.. it's Shannon. And it's fitting that he rescued her, since he was unable to do it on the island, and that ate at him and killed him inside for so long. And as soon as he touches her arm she remembers him.. and re remembers her.. remembers..
.. touches..
And kisses..
So memerable they survive even death..and long times spent very alone..
It's funny what you remember, what stays with you..
How one person can touch you and it can last a liftetime.. Those are the true loves of your life.The ones that make you the person you always wanted to be. And he just puts his hand on her face as he says her name..
And knows he a good man.. cause she loves him, and more imprtantly, he loves her. And Hurely is please by this...
Telling Boone just how worth the effort it was. Watching them share the kind of kiss that only lovers that have been separtated for a long time can share. The first of many reunions on this night.
And even Boone seems happy about this. For he had a mission too. To let his sister go, to let her be free to love Sayid completly, who end needed her more than Boone ever did..
He eaned his ticket.. by doing what he was here to do as well. What they all were hear to do. To let go, and complet what they needed to complete...
"Should I go get em?" And Hurleys like "naaa lets give em a minute.." Cuase well they sure as hell have waited long enough haven't they?'
Such a fitting reunion considering it had been at least 4 seasons. The first of many to make me squeee and tear up and just be overall happy that they did bring her back to him. Shayid was confirmed to be true in it's purest form and won''t be the last in the fianle. There's alot more to come..
This seems like a fitting place for me to break for now.. and then I'll get to work on the second half of my recap.. Hope your liking it so far..More good stuff to come I promise..
