Wow, I'm actually writing on here again! Sheesh, when was the last time? My mom's birthday? That's an entire eternity ago... I wouldn't dare touch upon everything that has happened since then. I guess I'll have to find SOMEWHERE to start...
Sophomore year at Stony Brook University is INCREDIBLE. I thought freshman year was amazing, but never did I imagine that the second year of college could prove to be so much more exhilarating. There's no more awkward phase of not knowing anyone or being oblivious to the world. And what's even better is that I am living on campus. AHHHH. I live 4 minutes, 35 seconds away from the Sports Complex I need to walk to every morning. The only problem is my room mate. She's extremely annoying and I cannot stand her. I mean, she's on my team and I have to see her every morning, afternoon, and night. She's really short and Colombian... I can't STAND her! Hah, you wish that was true. My roomie and I are having a grand time in Benedict D215. She's still short and Colombian, but I love her. Everyone else at school hasn't changed, with the exception of a few new, exciting things to talk about from summer adventures.
I absolutely love telling people about my summer. The reaction is very repetitive - people are left aghast at how much I was able to do and what exciting adventures I embarked on. Skydiving, by far, is my ultimate Summer 2008 memory. If I could, I would tell you exactly how I felt jumping out of a plane 14,500 feet in the air, but it's impossible. I don't even recall the jump itself - just my elated, nostalgic, gleeful feeling with wind rushing in my face at low temperatures and high altitude. I watch the video from my jump at least once every two to three weeks. It's enthralling! If you ever get the change, PLEASE go skydiving. I don't care how afraid of heights you claim to be, it's necessary. I almost had a chance to in the beautiful state of Colorado, but not enough people I traveled with were into it (or old enough to do so). One day, I will get to again, I promise.
Anyways... Fall has started. I can feel it in the fresh air and light wind. I absolutely love the fall, maybe because it's the season in which my birthday is situated? Nah, it's a truly gorgeous season. On one of my runs, I collected the first leaf of fall I came across: a little red leaf located on the curb near Stony Brook University. I can't stop thinking about how excited I am for Thanksgiving... and all the food that will be available on that day! MAYBE I will even go into the city and see the MACY*S Day Parade! That would be extraordinary! Anyone interested...?
I will do my best to update you as often as possible, whoever you are. I know not many people read this, so I guess I am just writing for myself? Whatevs, it works for me!
Oh, yeah, just figured I'd throw this quote out there. It's from a movie, 'Harold and Maude,' that I watched with Kellyann a few weeks ago. It's very lively and happy and has a "LIVE YOUR LIFE" spirit. The kind that I encompass. Ready?
"Reach out. Take a chance. Get hurt even. But play as well as you can. Go team, go! Give me an L. Give me an I. Give me a V. Give me an E. L-I-V-E. LIVE! Otherwise, you got nothing to talk about in the locker room."
And on that note, I'm off to watch One Tree Hill.
