You can't buy love, but you can RENT it.

This post is mainly for Sarah, since she was the one who introduced me to RENT to begin with. Thanks for that, by the way. She's probably already seen it, but my GOODNESS it's such a beautiful trailer. No dialogue, just voices harmonizing, projecting so much emotion. http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/rent/ (But you must have Flash Player to view it.) You can also watch the music video at http://www.apple.com/trailers/sony_pictures/rent-seasons_of_love.html, which shows different footage but still features the same beautiful song.

So I've watched this trailer maybe five or six times, and sometimes I just listen to it as I'm doing something else. What is the meaning of life, I ask?--And please, don't say 42.-- This song, the central meaning of the musical, asks the same question:

Five hundred twenty-five thousand, six hundred minutes - How do you measure, measure a year?
In daylights, in sunsets,
In midnights, in cups of coffee,
In inches, in miles,
In laughter and strife?
In five hundred twenty-five thousand, six hundred minutes?
How do you measure a year in the life?

And the lesson the musical teaches us is to measure in love as there is NO DAY BUT TODAY. It's so simple a concept, yet I somehow have not grasped it. I am so caught up in these trivial matters, conducting everything in a monotonous routine, feeling as if I am not truly ALIVE.

Maybe I'll learn how to... Another Day.
