ECSTACY! of the non-drug variety

Dec 30, 2006 00:59

First of all, I'm sorry FList, for not having commented recently. I've recently been in the habit of skimming my friends page in the brief moments my brother's computer wasn't occupied, and that hasn't been enough time to read thoroughly and comment. But, that's hopefully come to an end, and I promise I'll catch up with y'all soon!

Hooray! Today, we received the wireless router in the mail, and my brother worked his computer mojo so my laptop is ONLINE. And I think I forgot to mention that I also got a hard drive enclosure and I'm going to take one of my dad's extra hard drives. His computer has two 120 GB hard drives and he's used up less than 40 on one of them. So yay, I'm going to put the hard drive into the enclosure--okay, my brother will put the hard drive in the enclosure--and then I'll have a hard drive to hook up to my broken comp back at school and transfer all of my files there. That means, of course, I'll have all of my music and videos (yay!) and school/personal files that date back to freshman year of high school in a hard drive that I will then hook up to my laptop. Nothing lost!

...The remaining question is, what to do with this desktop computer that is about 7 years old and just needs a new PCI card? And possibly a thorough hard drive clean up? The desktop has been having problem after problem, and I thought it was better to invest money elsewhere, and not to fixing it up. What now?

And the other happiness... Battlestar Galactica is sooooooooo good. SOOOOOOOO GOOD.
killerspork33 was right!! (Not that I doubted you, Sara. Haha.) I finished the miniseries and the first season, and I'll be starting on season 2... um, not tonight because I just realized that it's 1:00 in the morning. I don't want to spoil anyone who thinks they may start watching the show, though. So uhh... LJ cut!

Okay, I adore Commander Adama. Adore, adore, adore. I have so much love for Edward James Olmos, and it first stemmed when I watched Stand & Deliver when I was 7 years old. Now I love him even MORE. Commander Adama is both a softie and a strong military leader who shoulders a lot of responsibility and, I dunno, I have to admire him for having to make so many tough decisions. I will admit that I was pissed off that he decided to arrest the President, though. And HOLY COW HE'S SHOT!!! I know he can't die, but the way that Colonel Tigh let go of him at the end of the finale made me hyperventilate.

I can't believe Boomer shot him! Oh my GOSHHHH. I have to admit that I actually really like her, despite the fact that she's a Cylon and just freaking shot the Commander. After that blonde Cylon (what is her name, anyway? Does she even have a name?) got that look on her face while saying that Sharon thinks she's human, I sympathized with Sharon more. She's torn between doing what she was programmed to do and the feelings/relationships that she's developed while disguised as a human.

Ugh I want to go on some more, but it's 1:25 now and I really want to sleep. Plus, I have an eye appointment and it wouldn't do for me to be bleary eyed as the optometrist tries to measure my glasses prescription. Lemme wrap this up. My favorite characters by far are Lee "Apollo" Adama and Kara "Starbuck" Thrace. And they are definitely my favorite ship! Forget about the weird Gaius Baltar/Blonde Cylon 'ship! Dude, the SEXUAL TENSION between Apollo and Starbuck is so thick I'd need a chainsaw to cut through it. OMG, the Kara/Gaius scene where she calls out Lee's name instead?? I think I screamed in excitement!

GAHHH I NEED TO KEEP WATCHING!!!!! I need to know what happens!

Oh, and I'm working at Bath and Body Works again. I'm a little frustrated about working there, but I'm also enjoying it. I'm slightly frustrated because working retail isn't a very rewarding job, at least for me. It's really draining work for very little pay, and California minimum wage is going up 75 cents. I haven't had time to negotiote a raise with my manager because I worked Christmas Eve (way too busy to talk) and the first day of the Semi-Annual Sale (wayyyy too busy to talk), the second day of the sale (wayyy too busy to talk), and today (she was working closing and I was there in the morning). Even if I can manage to get a raise, it wouldn't be a 75 cent raise in my wage, adjusted for the increase in minimum wage. And while I derive joy in knowing that the customers are leaving the store happy with their purchases, did I have a meaningful impact on their lives? In all likelihood, no. But I have had a few really great experiences with customers and being able to help them find what they wanted or discover new items, and they complimented me to my manager. So, yay!

Whew. It's 1:45! Off to bed I go!

Happy New Year! May 2007 be all that you hope it to be!
