Title: Work relations
Pairings: No pairings, though if you really want to, you can squint and turn your head at a certain angle to maybe see haitsuya?
Rating: G
Disclaimer: Slavery is outlawed. I don't own any of them. A shame.
Summary: A drabble-ish thingy that's here as a contrast to OSaaT or something.
This one just happened. I think this is as close to reality *sigh* as I'll ever write. Though it somehow turned out to be both far colder and far mushier (at the same time O_o) than I imagined... *shrug*
----------------------------------------------------
It had always been like this for them. They joke about it on TV Shows and never hide it in interviews. It was a well known fact: the members of L'arc~en~Ciel just didn't meet that much in their private lives.
It's not that they hate each other, they don't even dislike each other. They get along just fine, otherwise they couldn't have stayed together for so long. They make good music together. They perform amazingly together at lives.
They just have other friends.
No, just friends doesn't cover it. Other people, different lives, separate interests. Families and homes. Even different dreams and aspirations. At the end of the day, they were just colleagues and nothing more, even if in their line of work it was expected of them to imply otherwise. They were people connected by their job, maybe even by fate, but they weren't as close as their fans liked to believe.
However, sometimes, especially when they went on hiatus, tetsuya would wonder if that was really it.
Seeing any of the other members on TV made his heart beat so much faster. Meeting them on accident in reality made him want to smile so much wider than what was really acceptable. Going to their solo lives made him think he should be there, on the stage, with them. He missed them, he realized, so much more than he should if they were really just colleagues.
It made him wonder, sometimes, about other bands, junior and senior alike, that swore that their members were the closest people in the world.
Sometimes, he blamed these moments of weakness, as he called them, on jealousy. He was the band leader after all, the one that gathered them together - he was used to having them sing and play in HIS band. "Mine!" His mind shouted sometimes, and then he was tempted to take out his old platform shoes just so he could squash the thought down more thoroughly.
Sometimes, he blamed it on the frustration he got when dealing with his own solo projects. Sometimes - on the fan letters and their expectations getting to him. Sometimes, on the fact that he often felt lonely and on his desperation to feel some companionship.
Sometimes, he just let it go and went with it. It made their "coming back" lives so much better if he showed his happiness at being with the other members when on stage.
If he let it slip when they were backstage, however, it was a different thing. A hand around ken's shoulder, a nudge to yukki's side, a pat on the back for hyde - all would earn him a wide smile in return. That is, until the person in question figured out there were no cameras around, in which case the expression would quickly turn to one of amusement, with a raised eyebrow, as if asking "Carried away much, leader?"
It was better that way, he reasoned. Maybe this aloofness was what let them stay together this long. Not getting too close meant not getting hurt, or angry, or bored with each other. It was good for business, and tetsuya was nothing if he wasn't a good business man.
But, as he raised an eyebrow at hyde one day when the vocalist hugged him backstage in excitement without any cameras around, he wondered if there was something they were all missing after all.

By the way, it didn't start out as Tetsu POV. That, also, just sort of happened xD Comments are welcome. Shouts of denial as well ;P
