Did I mention that time isn't moving fast enough yet? Cause it's not. I think I expended all my anxiousness the day the calls were made, now I'm overeager. Things should be happening right now but somehow they are not. So close to not being crazy and yet it's so far away. This displeases Nicky.

errm... I had stuff to write but it slipped my mind. Oh right, superstition! I like superstition, mostly because I'm a huge sceptic troublemaker. The only reason I got a ouija board when I was wee one was because my older sister tried to convince us that her friend's cousin's house burnt down because they had one. I love the break a mirror get seven years of bad luck thing. But more importantly I love the whole umbrella inside house = bad luck thing. It comes up fairly often. Boston gets a fair amount of rain. Usually it's outside but sometimes it's indoors.

So yeah I have some general rules one of which is I will do things against superstition for myself but I will not do them for other people's sake. Seems like a silly rule for a sceptic but there's a reason for it. It seems like the people who freak out the most about superstition are also people who most often insist that you do things for them against superstition. Not following me?

Example: Not to long ago someone asked me to open an umbrella for them indoors to check if there were any spiders in it (it had been in a closet for ages). I've opened umbrella indoors plenty of times before, I don't seem to be suffering any more than before I started not caring. But that particular time I said no, something seemed off. The person immediately yelled at me for being superstitious, called me stupid, but then promptly grabbed the umbrella and ran outside to check for spiders. Nice. This person was not only willing risk me for their own benefit but willing to treat me like shit for not wanting to be their guinea pig. And in the end they ran outside because clearly they weren't going to try it for themselves. That would be unthinkable, they could get bad luck! People are awesome like that.

I like superstition, it lets you see what people are really about.
