Plenty
Rooted in this place, with power flowing in and through me, bringing peace, protection and pleasure I bring forth plenty. I prosper. I used to think that prosperity was about having plenty of the things that I wanted, especially money. I thought that if I had plenty of money I was prosperous. I no longer think that way.
When I observed the earth, plants, animals, fish and birds I saw that those who were prosperous were not those who had plenty. They were not those who accumulated and hoarded a lot of stuff. Rather those who prospered were those who produced plenty. Prosperity is about producing plenty.
Prosperity, producing plenty is about fertility. Fertile earth does not accumulate it brings forth plenty. Fertile plants produce plenty of seeds, nuts, fruits and vegetables. Fertile, prosperous animals are animals that give birth to an abundance of offspring. So it is with us human animals, we prosperous humans are fertile in body, mind and spirit. Prosperous humans produce abundance. We produce an abundance of children, manufactured goods, ideas, visual arts, music, poetry, dance, story and song.
When we produce an abundance of valuable goods we offer them to others who cannot or do not produce them for themselves, they give us money for the plenty that we produce. We then use the money we receive to buy things produced by others that we cannot or do not produce for ourselves. Thus we all produce plenty. We all prosper and benefit from each others’ prosperity and need.
I am not interested in producing an economic theory. I am interested in celebrating fertility and encouraging prosperity, the production of plenty. I am interested in valuing the production of plenty. I want to prosper in the sense of producing plenty rather than hoarding plenty. I want to encourage others to produce plenty, plenty of whatever it is they are here to produce for the good of all.
Freyja is a fertility goddess and Freyr a fertility god. They value prosperity, producing plenty. They encourage it in all forms. True to both Freyja and Freyr, I too value and encourage prosperity.
