"Death could be described as an erotic embrace between the dead man and a lady who represents the afterlife." Wow. What an awesome view of death-an erotic embrace. That sure creates some cognitive dissonance in my still recovering Christianized brain trained to view death as the last enemy to be defeated. I was taught to fear death, to fight against it as something unnatural and evil. In my work I have witnessed Christians dying in fear, fighting the whole way. I have also witnessed the look of ecstasy on the faces of my dying patients. The truth is that death is natural. It is necessary for life. Life lives on death. Without the death of plants and animals, I cannot live. The quote above affirms that death is not only natural. It can be ecstatic, an erotic embrace. The only thing that bothers me about the above quote is that it is so heterosexual male-centered. How would the same idea be expressed from a heterosexual feminine perspective? A gay and lesbian perspective?
sex,
sacred sex,
