another XF fanmix

Nov 01, 2007 22:39

I've been making this mix for a long time, and now seemed like a good time to post it!

It's an X-Files, MSR mix set after the series ended. It's half road-trip and half love song, with appropriate angst and weariness. There's nothing more X-Files-y than Mulder and Scully wandering around the country, waiting for the end of the world. So I made a mix!

"Last Dance"
Sendspace ZIP [updated 4/2/08]
MegaUpload ZIP
[zip is about 50MB; all tracks are .mp3 with two .m4a]

01. Wild Theme - Dire Straits
[instrumental (live)]

02. Waltz Across Texas - Emmylou Harris
But the moon is so full, the stars are so bright
And my hand is steady, my touch is light
Look in my eyes, hold on real tight
And I'll waltz you, my darling, across Texas tonight

03. Electrical Storm - U2
The sea it swells like a sore head
And the night it is aching
Two lovers lie with no sheets on their bed
And the day it is breaking
Car alarm won't wrench him back to sleep
You're kept awake dreaming someone else's dream
Your coffee is cold, but it'll get you through
Compromise, that's nothing new to you

04. Leave You On the Pavement - Catherine Feeny
Love those shadows underneath your eyes
And I love that little boy who lives inside of your smile
Love that you’re both caged and free
Hate what you’re doing to me
I think that I’ll go running
I will sweat you out of me
I will leave you on the pavement
Maybe then you’ll let me be

05. Desire - Ryan Adams
With no secrets, no obsession
This time I'm speeding with no direction
You know me, you know my way
Just can't show me, but God I'm praying
That you find me, that you see me,
That you run and never tire
Desire

06. Where Will I Be - Emmylou Harris
Said don't waste your breath
Don't waste your heart
Don't blister your heels
Running in the dark.
Yeah, I like the heat
Of your body laying under me
May your wild lip get you where you're going
With your inventions, your intentions, your laughter
Your forever yearning
Oh where, Oh where will I be?
Oh where, when that trumpet sounds?

07. Till Kingdom Come - Coldplay
Hold my hand inside your hands
I need someone who understands
I need someone, someone who heals
For you I've waited all these years
In your tears and in your blood
In your fire and in your flood
I hear you laugh, I heard you sing
I wouldn't change a single thing

08. Answer - Sarah McLachlan
I will be the answer at the end of the line
I will be there for you while you take the time
In the burning of uncertainty, I will be your solid ground
I will hold the balance if you can't look down
If it takes my whole life, I won't break I won't bend
It'll all be worth it, worth it in the end
'Cause I can only tell you what I know,
that I need you in my life
When the stars have all gone out,
you'll still be burning so bright

09. One Day - The Verve
One day maybe we will dance again
Under fiery skies
One day maybe you will love again
Love that never dies
Oh, you're too afraid to touch
Too afraid you'll like it too much
The roads, the times, breaking up your mind
Can't you hear this beauty in life?

10. Latter Days - Over the Rhine
Nothin' like sleepin' on a bed of nails
Nothin' much here but our broken dreams
Ah, but baby, if all else fails,
nothin' is ever quite what it seems
And I'm dyin' inside to leave you with more than just cliches
And if the music starts before I get there,
dance without me
You dance so gracefully
I really think I'll be okay
They've taken their toll, these latter days

11. Last Dance - Sarah McLachlan
[instrumental]
[seriously the most XF-sounding instrumental ever made. It even has woo-woo's!]

NOTES.
- If for no other reason, download this mix for "Latter Days." I practically made the rest of the mix to be able to post and share this one song - it's incredibly beautiful, especially on headphones.

- "Electrical Storm" has always been my song for imagining Mulder and Scully living in crappy rental houses up and down Puget Sound. Hee, I'm lame.

- Yeah, I reused "Answer" from my other MSR fanmix. What can I say?

- The road metaphors were intentional; the dance metaphors were sheer serendipity.

fanmix, public
