i'm living proof that crime do pay...

sometimes i wonder what wouldve happened if my family had stayed in the business- i would probably be a completely different person, a worse person in terms of morals and materialism.... i've had a $50 gift certificate for this store called tuni's (on park ave) since my birthday. its just been sitting on my desk staring at me, so i decided to spend it today on a component of my festival outfit. i got really excited cause i found a pair of BCBG brown velvet gauchos for $53, marked down from God knows what, and it was probably the cheapest thing in the store (seriously, cheaper than the underwear, the belts, or the necklaces). while i'm looking theres this pair of wannabe gastineau girls shopping around and prancing everywhere exclaiming how fabulous everything is and how they have to have it. and when they're done shopping, i happen to look over to the register and they spent $3000, and if you looked at them, they looked like they had just something as routine as buying groceries. It suddenly struck me that there are extremes of wealth that are completely unfathomable to me, and that perhaps i will never know, but maybe i could have.. not that i had anything to do with it. but hey, i bet neither of those two women knew what a regioselective reaction was... heh
