The good, the bad, and the ugly.

Last night was the most hellish night of work that I've ever experienced. Ever. And I can't imagine things getting much worse. I get there, tired from waking up at six, and they're thirty minutes late. The girl is just getting back from urgent care because she has asthma which is acting up really bad. She has an inhaler, a breathing treatment machine, and steroids which affect her mood. She wants her parents at home to take care of her. So I spend all day trying to appease her until that night when her brother apparently gets into her steroid medication which she had left on the kitchen counter despite being told by her father repeatedly that medicine needs to be put up. For one horrifying moment, we think that he might have drunk it, so we call the dad who calls the pharmacist who assures us that the worst that will happen is he will be bouncing off the walls. Since he wasn't hyper or overly hungry/thirsty then we're guessing her poured it into the sink. I was angry with her, though, and she decided I was giving her attitude. She locked herself in the bathroom and called her mother in Florida, yelling at her that it was her fault she had to have a babysitter because she was down in Florida.

I talked to her, however, and told her maybe she could come up with a time to talk to her mom everyday and we talked about the cool stuff she would do when she got down there. This led to today being considerably better. We spent a long time outside with the neighbor children. Dill, the boy, wanted to wrestle, and the girl played store with the little girl next door. Dill only required two baths today and the food was pretty much pre-made. We played Monopoly and the only bad thing that happend was having to ration the wipes because the girl who works before me didn't check in on him for two hours and he ruined two entire boxes. Plus, when he was teaking a shower, he pretty much soaked me from head to toe, but it made him smile and didn't really hurt me.

I have to work all day on Thursday and amybe not all all on Friday though the father said he was going to try to see about still splitting Friday since I've been showing up and she keeps calling off. Applied for a job watching a ten-year-old starting in July since the kids will be back there by then.

Tomorrow I'm going to go get my hair cut. It's feeling so heavy as the weather is getting warmer. I'm going to get one or two inches cut off, bangs, and layers. I think it will look really good and feel a whole lot better if nothing else. Saturday we're going to a meeting at the Academy of Court Reporting to see if they are worth driving slightly further than a community college that offers it.
