It had been a long week. A very long week. One that had culminated in a fist fight that Annie had come to without all the skills to win ( Read more... )

Work, work, work. Everyone always envied Harvey work ethic. The man could be a total machine if you gave him space and let him go. Wind him up and just watch him go. Meetings, lunch drinks, paperwork, more meetings, and more drinks. Of course court was thrown in there at different times. He also had to add on keeping an eye on Mike a little better. He was working on righting his past wrongs on his own time. He did all that in his apartment to keep it from Louis. He didn't think he could take a comment from him without punching him.

Jessica frowned on office violence.

Right now he was at his desk with a pen jammed somewhere behind his ear and another being squeezed to death in his right hand. Luckily he was alone in his apartment which meant he didn't have to worry about looking the picture of calm. He could be frustrated and he could throw the files wherever he wanted.

He was going to snap soon.

Annie dialed her phone and put it on speaker so she could talk and undress at the same time, though it was probably not a very good idea given the fact that she was going to make some very unladylike sounds because of the pain she was in.

It didn't matter. She was home and she was going to call Harvey. However, because she still wasn't entirely comfortable calling him at the office, she was going to start with his cell phone and hope that he wasn't in court.

He was about to throw the files off his balcony when he heard the his cell. They were safe for now, but that didn't mean he wouldn't get frustrated again and want to put them in the oven. Cameron had really fucked him over. This was the worse mess that Harvey had ever found himself in.

The next task was finding his cell phone in his apartment. It was hidden. Probably lost in his paper work from his crusade. He was normally very tidy, but pressure tended to make it incredibly difficult for him to care.

He found it in the kitchen stashed under some files folders. He leaned forward with his elbows on the counter. He pressed it to his ear and answered. He ran his free hand through his hair quickly. "Harvey Specter." Professional as always. He hadn't even looked at the number or name on the ID.

"Annie-" She grunted as she bent slightly to peel off her top. "Walker."

Setting the shirt on the bed, she sat down next to it without too much of an effort and exhaled slowly before she spoke again. "I was just calling to tell you that I was home again, but you sound like you're really... not happy."

She gave herself a small mental pep-talk before she undid her button and made the smallest whimper as she stood again, this time to remove her jeans. "Are you okay?"

The grouchy lawyer cracked a smile when she introduced herself with both names. He shook his head and pushed off the counter. He spun around and leaned back against the edge of it. He rubbed the back of his neck as he listened to her. He had noted the grunt, but he didn't think much of it. Maybe she just felt like it?

"Define happy." He let out a soft chuckle before he frowned at the sound he heard. It was soft and he almost miss it. He was a little confused, but no alarms yet.

"I'm just tired. The more I dig into these cases the more I think of how stupid I was to believe Cameron. I can practically see the holes in them without even reading." He drug a hand down his face. "What about you? How you doing?"

Hearing him discuss the worm that had nearly suceeded in dicking him over made anger flash through her, but she kept it tamped down for his sake. He didn't need to her her real thoughts on the subject while he probably had quite a few of his own.

"I'm sorry," she said instead, sticking to the general. "It's got to be rough going through all of that again."

Having succeeded in removing her jeans, she left them where they were rather than bend over and pick them up; it was just too much effort for the time being. Sitting back on the bed, she sighed heavily and decided to come clean since he'd likely know sooner rather than later.

"It wasn't an easy trip," she admitted, but tried to minimize the damage so he'd worry about himself rather than her. "I'll be fine."

It was rough. He was probably starting to come off too whiny about this. He didn't want that. He never liked being a whiner. Whining wasn't a good quality. He was a winner who didn't obsess like a child. He didn't actually like to whine or make a deal out of things unless it was jokingly.

He had pushed off the counter and was about to head for his fridge when he heard her. Not an easy trip meant injury. It meant she ran into someone who wanted to hurt her and they had probably succeeded a little bit.

His jaw got tense and he sighed. "What happened? I mean what happened injury wise?" He knew she couldn't give details on the mission, but injuries was kind of hard to hide.

"Harvey..." She trailed off on a sigh, well aware what that tone meant. She could see his expression, that one he got where his jaw got tense and he started to worry.

She knew she should have kept quiet and made excuses not to see him until the bruises went away.

Now that the can of worms was open, there was no way to put them back, so she confessed (almost) all. "It was a little fight. He got me pretty good in the face, so I have a sore cheekbone. A couple of bruised ribs and some scrapes. That's all."

Well, the ribs were broken and, if he could see her right then, he'd know that she had more than a couple bruises. It was just ugly all over since the "little" fight hadn't been little at all and she'd finally shoved her opponent into a very large piece of machinery.

If he knew that last bit he would have smiled a little and told her good job or something. He was happy to have a girlfriend who could handle herself, but it was the losing part that really made him upset. It wasn't an everyday type of thing where a guy had to worry about his girlfriend getting that hurt. He was still adjusting.

"Annie--" Another sight. Expect a lot of these. He was pacing out of the kitchen and around his apartment now. His next idea was to start packing. He was not very good at packing and talking on the phone though.

"I'm gonna take a little vacation and come--" He took a deep breath. "take care of you alright? I know you're a badass and you can probably take me down, but I'm coming. I'm not just gonna leave you alone in that shape."

She stifled the groan that she wanted to give, instead squeezing her eyes shut. Clearly, for all of her high marks in deception training, she still needed to work on lying to her boyfriend effectively.

"Since I probably can't change your mind, I should tell you..." She took a deep breath herself, which made her ribs hurt, which only made her whimper. This time it wasn't quiet, either, and she gasped, causing herself more pain and she cried out. "Okay, look. I have two broken ribs and a lot of bruises around my neck and shoulders. I don't want you to freak out when you get here."

There. She was breathing heavily, trying to avoid hurting herself further and holding the phone tightly. What she really wanted to ask was 'When can you be here?' but she didn't think it fit in with his idea of her being a badass, so she kept quiet.

Her injuries sounded pretty bad. The more she told him the more he was worried about that. He wanted to have her looked at, but she had probably already seen someone probably. The CIA wasn't going to let her go home without knowing she was able to take care of herself. Wait. They wouldn't do that would they? Now Harvey was a little worried.

"I promise I won't freak out." It took every ounce of him to not react when he heard that whimper and gasp of pain. He wasn't an emotional guy, but he did feel horrible for her.

"Just stay in bed. Don't go moving around. I'll be there as soon as I can be alright?" That meant as soon as he could get a flight which would probably be easy. He had the money and he wasn't afraid to spend.

The CIA usually figured if you weren't shot, then there was really no need to stay in the hospital. They'd wrapped her sides very tightly and given her pain medication to keep her from hurting herself too much. She had the next seventy-two hours off from work, and she had to see another doctor before she went back, even for office work.

"I'm not going to do much of anything, except maybe order in Chinese when I wake up. Even if you drive, it'll take you at least six hours," she said, thinking about how good a shower sounded. "I might shower before you get here, though, so you're not too offended."

Her goal was to make light of it enough to keep him from worrying. She knew that he had enough on his plate as it was - the last thing he needed to do was worry about his girlfriend and her stupid job. Though, now that she thought about it... "If anyone asks? It was just a bad car accident."

"Not too offended? Annie, you could be a walking bruise and you'd still be the sexiest woman in DC. Don't clean up just for me. If you can manage a shower then go ahead otherwise don't go wandering around and causing more pain for yourself." If she waited he could help out a little bit. A shower with broken ribs didn't sound like a delightful event that she wanted to embark on alone.

"Bad car accident. This lines up perfectly due to the fact that your driving scares me." He's joking. She drives lovely. She's trained in that type of stuff so she really does drive pretty good. He was just starting to feel a bit on the panicky side. "I'll be there soon ( ... )
