After Clay had dropped her off at her townhouse, she'd delayed the goodbye as long as she could by kissing him in the car and then outside it as well. It was early on New Year's Day and she knew she'd need that Sunday to get ready for work, finish laundry and actually get some rest.

Late Sunday night, she called him to see if he wanted to meet her for coffee on Monday morning. When Monday morning came, she found herself occupied by files, the coffee date forgotten.
