Well, I just got back from a week in Canada. It was a pretty awesome time, although I'm exhausted now. I guess 12 hours of airports and buses does that. Security at the airport in Calgary was fucking nuts, too. We waited in line for about 2 hours just to get through customs, and once I went through the metal detectors a cop frisked me down. He didn't just pat my arms and legs either, it took like 2 minutes, and it made me feel very uncomfortable. They wouldn't even let people bring carry on bags. Security was making women check their purses with their luggage.

I think this is the first vacation I've ever taken where I woke up two hours before the sun came up every day. I got a lot of snowboarding in, though, which was super cool. Snowboarding is something I wish I was able to do more than once a year.

I've still got about a week and a half in Austin before I go back to White Plains, and I figure I'm going to try to make the most of it, since I'm not sure when I will be coming back. I'm planning on taking a little road trip to Iowa during the winter break in February. I don't know what I'm going to be doing for spring break, but I imagine it will include a lot of studying for finals. As for the summer, I'm looking for a job both in Austin and New York. Hopefully the legal job market will be doing a little bit of unthawing this semester. I did get accepted into a legal internship-for-credit during the spring semester through my school though, although I'm not sure exactly what I'll be doing. I think I'll either be working at the New York Attorney General's Office or at an environmental non-profit. I'd be happy with either of them although I think I'm leaning towards the non profit right now. I think they both sound pretty cool.

At the airport today, I picked up this weird book called Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters. It's the Jane Austen book, but with the added benefit of vicious sea creatures, and maybe some of the great old ones. It's pretty amusing. The cover has a painting of a woman with a man who has a tentacle beard; I guess that's why it stuck out to me at the shop.

Anyway, that's my week.
