The Hagan Family
The Irish surname Hagan is the anglicized form of the Gaelic O'hAgain. The clannad O' hAgain was located in what is now County Tyrone, in Northern Ireland, but was then in the dark ages known as Ulster. The family seat was at Tullahogue, and the Chief's of the O'hAgains exercised the hereditary right of inaugurating O'Neill as the high king of or overlord of Ulster. The Niells, and all his men from Ulster were known throughout Ireland as the fiercest and bravest warriors. The famous Irish warrior legend Culculainn was from Ulster, and the Romans were never able to penetrate into Ulster during their expansion efforts of the first centuries CE. The Hagan family motto is Victory or Death.
Now, there are many Hagans throughout Ireland and the United States. Below is a record of my family, with the records that I have available to me. There is till much to fill in...
This is a record of the Hagan family. This record was given to me by my grandmother, Rita, from her family materials. Most of the information that concerns the Hagan’s was given to her by her sister-in-law Elanor. Some of the information is incomplete. For instance, the first Hagan in the records, Henry, has no birth date or place of birth. I will endeavor to complete this record with my own research, but we all must start somewhere. My main goal in the keeping of this record is to discover when the Hagan line came from Ireland, and thus settled in this country. To more easily read this record I have bolded all the males to trace the passage of the name, from good ol’ Henry all the way to me.
