So I signed up for 4 week trial and have already seen like 16 movies. The service is pretty good. For $15/month you get 3 movies out at a time and can view an unlimited amount per month... and they give you the occasional coupons for in-store rentals. A better deal than Netflix. My only negative was that the DVD for 'Shaun of the Dead' was messed

What I believe happened was that Natalie Portman was in love with Jude Law and never slept with Clive Owen. If you remember, near the end she said to Jude Law "I can't tell you the truth and I don't want to lie so I don't love you anymore" or something to that effect. By "I can't tell you the truth", I think she meant that Jude Law would not accept the truth that she didn't not sleep with Clive Owen. Since he wouldn't trust her no matter what she said, she decided that she couldn't love him anymore and that was when she could just tell him what he wanted to hear (which was the lie).
Clive Owen studies people and knew exactly what would make Jude Law tick. Just like how he demanded that Julia Roberts sleep with him one last time which eventually led to her and Jude Law's breakup. After he slept with Julia Roberts, he said to her "I forgive you." He knew that Jude Law was the type of person who would not be able to forgive her for doing that and so when Jude Law didn't, Julia Roberts went back to Clive Owen who could forgive her. (As if he was demonstrating that he loved her more when he could forgive.)
I think he used the same strategy on Jude Law when he said that he did sleep with Natalie Portman. I never did understand why she lied about her name unless it was her way of trying to get a new start. What I found interesting was that when she worked as a stripper, she used her real name. Any thoughts?

but i think things are up for interpretation. she might just have slept with clive owen... cause the way she responded when jude law said that he already knew. she asked was this a test? so by that she realized that he would never trust her... if he had to test her like that. and she told him that she didnt love him anymore, because she was tired of the game now... that the dynamics totally changed with him becoming the way he did now.
you're right about clive owen claiming to really know how to read people... and if u recall his observation of natalie portman, it may have been forshadowing of how she really was with relationships. and i do agree with what u said about him manipulating julia roberts and jude law.
but i do think he did sleep with natalie portman, because he said that he didnt like him enough to lie for him... just owen was the brutally honest type (and that was shown by him telling julia roberts that he had slept with a whore in nyc)... and he wasnt going to change that for anyone.
as for natalie portman working as a stripper again... you dont know if she was using her real name at work... honestly i doubt she was... she only revealed her real name to owen when he kept asking... and she played it and toyed with him while doing it. she was flirting with him the whole time, and because she was honest about her real name to him... i do think she slept with him.
and thru the 4 year span of the movie... she never told anyone her real name... and the only person she did, didnt believe her. now that i think about it... strippers are devious and manipulative... they know how to push buttons to try and get what they want... and her behavior in the whole movie was playful... which to me showed that she played along to get and do what she wanted. cause if u think about it... at the end when shes walking down the street in nyc... all the guys are stopping to stare as she walks by. maybe the whole point was that they were her toys... and she could play with them anyway she wanted... and going back to what owen said when he met her at the exhibit... didnt he say something like she was a dangerous one to get involved with?
