New Me
I quit my job so I feel as if I suddenly have something to talk about.
The job, it was a pretty lame office gig anyways but I had a couple lame good old boy coworkers and one out of control man-boy coworker who had totally drank the misogynist Kool-Aid and was out to make the world a miserable place.
When one of your bosses loudly discusses the relative gay-ness of the victims of prison rapes in your presence (on you first day) you know it’s all about to go downhill from there.
Yes, that really happened, no I cannot explain it.
So I’m quitting, then I’m flying to MI for a few days to nail down wedding stuff and hold still while my mom pokes me with pins. Only somewhat figuratively. Heh…
Then I will come back and I have already signed up to answer phones for the local NPR station pledge drive. See, not having a job means I can support my local public radio station. I’m hoping I meet some cool people at the pledge drive, maybe I can even network some. Maybe somebody wants to pay me lots of money for something fun, with weekends free. That would be nice.
I cut off the hair. Super short hair always forces me to wear make-up and take daily showers. This will be the shortest I’ve ever gone with the curls. I’m still scared some social reject will tell me I look like a boy thus sending me to my bad place 10 year old self pre-pierced ears with the Dorothy Hammill cut phase.
OH! I’m also opening a shop on www.etsy.com. I’m going to sell those pearl earrings I wear everywhere, and some of my felt flower lapel pin / hair accessory things. I may also start putting up altered clothing and pet and baby gifts, so stay tuned.
