my art teacher - rita leicester passed away last thursday as I was about to leave for Sydney. It was quite sudden and totally unexpected. Tricia called me while I was ironing my shirt and I was trying to call people to "double-confirm" the situation. It's not funny at all to inform friends that someone is dead when he/she is still alive.
she was really close to me and gave me a lot of support through college and while in university. Quite a pity altogether. The thing is that we were supposed to meet last week before my trip to Penang but she changed the plans last minute. She actually said that she missed me and would love to catch up again. Sucks!
Tricia and I went to the wake at her lovely villa in Changi and her daughters had her photos all done up and brought out all the old albums; her works, her achievements, the students ... i teared and sobbed while looking at the wreaths given by the people around. It should not be this way. Apparently they were trying to get hold of me and Joel; her two "slave-sons" that she never had. We were always her side-kick in action going to schools and providing support for her projects.
It's too late, for I started to call up all the art students just to inform them of her death. Sad, but true. It was too sudden. She left us at the age of 64.
Mrs Rita Leicester ... you will be missed!
