Buongiorno to All from Farizvenice,

Again, I left on a very high note after the graduation ceremony the week before. It was really hectic with all the packing and having to clear all the administrative stuff with NUS before I left the country for Italy. I managed to get my clothes out from the cupboard in the morning before I left and now I realised that I forgot to bring my shaver and my ISIC card! *Dang*

Oh well, the flight on Emirates was better this time. I got bumped up onto the earlier flight and got the whole row of seats to myself. Dubai is still the same, kitschy and *blinkblink* ... again the same problem with security came for all the transit passengers. We all had to go through the metal detectors and as usual, stripped to the bare minimum including belts, shoes and watches too. Very bohdoh of the arabs who don't know how to invest in the hand detectors. Grrr ...

I arrived in Rome after a 21 hour flight from Singapore via Milan. It was really tough to get around, especially with my 26 kg bags. I had my clothes bag (on the almost cannot make it USD12 backpack from Cambodia, my food bag and the admin bag which is equally heavy). Weather in Roma is frucking hot to the max and almost unbearable. Of course, I did the usual touristy thing by going to the Gladiator Palace thingy and thereafter to all the other famous fountains.

Met up with the other interns (Jiekai and Nataliah) on the train to Venice via Florence. Again, we were on the run. Lugged our heavy backpacks and trolley to the hotel in Lido (on another island in Venice).

It has been nice in Venice here although things are really expensive. The one day boat ticket costs 11 Euros. Imagine paying $22 for a one day MRT pass in Singapore? Grrr ... Food is expensive also and since I will only be moving to the apartment next week, I will just have to rely on bread and vegetarian pizza for this week. Work at the Singapore pavilion has been fun so far, meeting so many tourists and eager travellers who were mostly dumbfounded by the Singaporean artist. FYI - IMHO, the Singapore Pavilion is wierd and shocking. Tuesdays are our off days and Nataliah and I will be working out a schedule so we could have longer breaks to roam the other Italian cities around.

OK. So I am safe and sound here and I am still in shock, to be working here in Italy. It feels like a Sunday everyday. YAY! Thanks for all the SMSes and keep all the e-mails coming. I am bored, other than having Nataliah around and practicing my French and Italian. Mostly, I am trying to keep myself occupied with the biennale and all the contemporary art ideas and architecture. Great!!

The apartment is huge and can accomodate about 2 more people. If you are free and want to check out Venice, do send me a mail and you can stay over here. Hotels are really expensive and this will take a huge load off your budget. Come come!!! There are so many SALDIs (SALE) all around Italy!! Really cheap cheap cos it is 50% disc!! Come come!!

I miss epok epok, my shaver, CHICKEN and KFC!!!
