Bought more books today. They're like african babies, I swear. One especially precious one is a yellowing old (1926, New York) collection of famous trials throughout history. Whenever I get within a five-foot radius it speaks to me - 'Hold meeeee, touch meeeeee, talk about me on your bloooooog!Even though no one reads this thing, I'm going to

2. Do you practice? Yes
3. Do you believe you have a natural talent? Sort of.
4. Where does inspiration come from? I don't know
5. When do you like to write the most? In the morning.
6. Do you have problems with procrastination? Sometimes
7. Do you tend to plan what you write before you start or just go head first? (If you do go head first, what influences those first few sentences the most - your surroundings, things you've read by others or crazy streams of thoughts and ideas?) For novels I have a vague outline which I fill in with excrusiating detail as I go. For short stories I usually have some idea of what's going to happen, but I don't really plan it.
8. Is there such a thing as progress? Huh? You mean becomming a better writer? Yes.
9. Do you like what you write? Not usually.
10. Does writing affect you emotionally? Sometimes
11. How do you go about editing? I read through it over and over, fixing stuff as I go 'till I get tired of doing it.
12. Have you ever taken a class and did it help you/influence you at all? Yes, and I don't know. I'm probably picking up some good habbits (don't use passive voice, clichés = the devil ect.) but I'm not getting to write what I want to write, which is killing my soul a little.
13. Do you ever borrow? From other people? Constantly! Haven't you heard the quote "To copy one source is stealing; to copy many is research"
14. Do you know a cure for writer's block? I don't usually get it, I find it's more laziness than anything else.
15. Are you ever afraid of writing? Not really. I'm afraid I won't be able to do something well, but the act itself doesn't scare me.
16. Does writing play evil little games with your self-esteem? Not realy.
17. Have you ever felt really proud of a piece you've written and do you continue to be proud about it? Yes. I don't know if there are any right now, but every time I finish a book I'm super-proud, although now I look back and realize they were all pretty much crap. They do get better as time goes on, though, so that's something. I'm still a little proud of the contest I won when I was 16 (the first writing contest I won and my first publication).
18. Has someone/something in particular influenced your writing or your outlook on writing in general? I dunno. I'd like to say Tamora Pierce because some of our work has the same themes. But I couldn't say. Everything influences me in some way.
19. Do you display what you write, read it only to close friends or keep it secret? Depends. If I've written it for class then obviously I have to show it to them. Most of the time I don't show my work to anyone until it's finished, or almost finished, and even then I only do it if I think it's good.
20. Do you ever feel inadequate and, if you do, why and how so? As a writer? Definitely. My work just isn't that great.
21. For you, what makes the difference between a piece you're satisfied with and a piece you're not? Whether it's any good or not.
22. Do you look for help, accept help or find it hard to ask for help? Depends. There are a few friends who I sometimes get to read stuff, and it isn't hard for me to ask them. My mom sometimes offers, but I never let her. I don't think I could handle that type of critisism from my mom.
23. When is writing its most difficult? When I don't want to do it, when my emotions are all screwed up for one reason or another.
24. Is there any part of the process you loathe in particular? Starting and ending. It's freaking hard.
25. Do you count on the approval or acceptance of others? No. But I'd like it.
26. Do you consider writing a large part of your life? It used to be. I'm not sure anymore.
27. Are you pursuing a career in writing? Sort of. It used to be my dream, but then again now I'm not sure.
28. How would you describe your writing style? I don't know. My brother once told me it was bland, but he's dumb and his opinion doens't count :P I've been told by a lot of people it's quite good, including by profs when they're talking about papers. I don't know how to describe it; I guess I try to use a lot of dialogue?
