Thirteen Days

...is a movie about the cuban missile crisis not based on the book Thirteen Days by RFK. It stars Kevin Costner with a really strong Boston accent. ... The guy playing RFK doesn't have the boston accent. That's irritating.

Having read 300 pages on the history of American Foreign Policy, I feel competent, on the eve of my midterm (summer courses being 4 weeks long, 2 weeks in we're tested), to say that the portrayal of McNamara in this movie sucks balls, but that Sorenson seems to have the right positions.

Also, shoebox updated after 2 years. It was somewhat anticlimactic. Either after 2 years, they're out of practice, or after 2 years, I've finally become a more discerning reader. I'm leaning towards the latter, since I still find the Gillyweed chapter brilliant but the rest is much less so.

I just realized I did my math wrong and will have to do six classes both terms to graduate on time. Bugger.

However, they all look like good/interesting/fun classes, only one is big and intro-ish. I kindof want to beg my way into Gibian's seminar on 19th century american prose instead of taking 20th Century poetry... but it will take a lot of sucking up. I'm discovering I really like anthro, but the anthro courses I want aren't running at the right time and I'd rather have more English courses to bring up my program GPA. (speaking of which, my english-courses-only-GPA for this term is 3.5... which would be high enough for honours if science hadn't fucked over my CGPA)

Maybe I'm morphing into a good student. Who woulda thunk?

As for my knitting... it is a good timewaster, but I'm mostly using up junk yarn, not really getting anything worth wearing done. I kindof want people I know to start having babies so I can knit for them, but I don't trust my friends with kids. :P
