Here are some of the nominees that were picked by the members of the Television Critics Association, and my own commentary in blue:

Individual Achievement in Drama

Bryan Cranston, “Breaking Bad” (AMC)

Julianna Margulies, “The Good Wife” (CBS)

Tatiana Maslany, “Orphan Black” (BBC America) [2013 winner in category]

Matthew McConaughey, “True Detective” (HBO)

Matthew Rhys, “The Americans” (FX)

It's great that the critics keep supporting Tatiana Maslany and recognise Matthew Rhys' fantastic performances on The Americans. So I totally agree with those choices.

That said, Cranston and McConaughey are just above everyone else here.

Outstanding New Program

“Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (Fox)

“Fargo” (FX)

“Orange Is the New Black” (Netflix)

“Sleepy Hollow” (Fox)

“True Detective” (HBO)

Here I'm torn between Fargo and True Detective. They are very different animals. OK Fargo then.

Outstanding Achievement in Movies, Miniseries and Specials

“American Horror Story: Coven” (FX)

“Broadchurch” (BBC America)

“Fargo” (FX)

“The Returned” (SundanceTV)

“True Detective” (HBO)

Here I'd say True Detective since it seems that an anthology format fits in the category better.

Outstanding Achievement in Drama

“The Americans” (FX)

“Breaking Bad” (AMC)

“Game of Thrones” (HBO) [2013 winner in category]

“House of Cards” (Netflix)

“The Good Wife” (CBS)

The Americans is the show that moves me the most.

Heritage Award

“Lost” (ABC)

“Saturday Night Live” (NBC)
“South Park” (Comedy Central)

“Star Trek” (NBC)

“Twin Peaks” (ABC)

Now that's a strange award, isn't it? Not sure what it means.

Program of the Year

“Breaking Bad” (AMC) [2013 winner in category]

“Game of Thrones” (HBO)

“The Good Wife” (CBS)

“Orange Is the New Black” (Netflix)

“True Detective” (HBO)

It has to be Breaking Bad again, obviously !

As an aside, I must say that although I often agree with the professional tv critics, it puzzles me to see them so enamoured of Game of Thrones, really...
