An embarrassment of riches

My telly is happy.

Most of the episodes I have watched lately, among them several finales, were really good.

If I had to do some ranking I would probably put Fargo's "Buridan's Ass" on the top, but The Good Wife ended a stellar season with a very good finale, Mad Men's faux-finale -- they have divided the last season in tow halves, Breaking Bad- ( Read more... )

Well, I'm rather confused.

You just reminded me, I haven't watched The Americans yet. I had been so sick that Tuesday night through Wednesday afternoon that I went to bed before 5pm local time.

And yes, I'm much better now!

What is it that you found confusing, trésor?

Oh, a bit of everything. Specifically, the end on the airplane..

BTW.... I don't think there was anything homoerotic about Hannibal & Will. But that's just me...

I just watched the season finale of "The Americans."

And I was right!! At least on two counts.

Jared killed his parents.

And Stan did not save Nina.

I loved Stan's dream sequence, even caught Martha stealing files from the mail cart the first time!

Cannot wait until next season and I am wondering how they are going to rehabilitate Nina.

It's funny, considering all the honey trap numbers Elizabeth had played, that I didn't see Kate seducing Jared come!

I didn't see the Paige as the new generation of illegals come either. Yet they paved the way for it!

I never expected Stan to betray his country, but he was so passive in that last scene, didn't even try anything to help her out. Nina couldn't count on her knights!

How cool was that Philip ambushed Arkady? Everybody seems to know Arkady's timetable and habits these days...

I do not think that Paige will ever be recruited by the KGB. I'm not sure that the ending for The Americans will follow that sort of path. I tend to think that Philip and Elizabeth will try to get the family out of the game intact or at least in a way which affords protection for their children in the US. Or maybe they will run off to Canada.

Philip does have the moves. Seems like he has a number of people pegged both Soviets and Americans. He should, his life and the life of his family depend upon it. And I think family is upmost in both Philip's and Elizabeth's mind now.

Philip won't let them recruit her -- his anger towards the pastor's "seduction" of her behind his back was nothing compared to what he would unleash on them -- but Elizabeth was obviously tempted for she sees herself in her daughter, she needs that connection between them. This might be the biggest difficulty their marriage will have to face next season ( ... )
